...and ND wasn't anywhere near their closest game. Here's 5 games where USC had a seven point lead or less at the start of the 4th Quarter: Start of 4th Quarter scores: Virginia Tech 14-10 Cal 23-17 (also final score) Stanford 24-28 (only game USC was behind in after 3 qtrs) Oregon State 14-13 UCLA 23-17 ... going to be an interesting season.
Stanford had USC beat. At halftime, that USC team looked de-moralized after that long run to end the half. Then the Stanford OC went super conservative and shut down Trent Edwards who was on the money in the first half.
And yet we're still taking crap about beating OSU by the same margin, despite being in a rebuilding year. They can't blame the fog, either...we had about 3 feet of rain to deal with.
One thing no one really mentions is USC being a little overconfident and not working as hard this year. Every team they play is going to be gunning for them and i think they might just find it a little tougher this year because their defense will not be quite as good and without Norm Chow neither will their offense. Their offense will still be good but i think losing Chow will cost them a game somewhere along the way. Go Hogs and give the SEC rep a boost and take down those overblown condoms. Geaux Tigers
Where do you come up with this crap? One play, guys. One freaking play (and the last one of the season at that) kept LSU from a 10-2, top 5 finish. Take away that play and we had an 8 game winning streak after a blowout loss.
I grew up with a dad that was a high school football coach and i can tell you that a little hollaring and screaming goes with the job. If some players were considering transfering it is because they saw they were not going to play because of the talent in front of them. Not because of the screaming and hollaring. Saban is a winner and it was his way or the highway. I had, have no problem with that. Miles may have another approach and that is fine. I am not saying Saban,s was the only way but it worked for him. Geaux Tigers
you can crunch the numbers but you can't discount that offense. those numbers surely show how their offense bailed them out many games....or the opposing coaches so my memory says. tedford are you listening.
i think my point is I certainly don't consider an s.c. defense the last couple years on the same level as a saban/ferentz. not from what I saw. the fact they had as many or more playmakers was the equalizer, certainly not the coaching imo. it was often a very vulnerable d. I certainly didnt see this genius of petey people often talk about. maybe im missing something.
