The i-pod got there firstest with the mostest. It IS very hip and highly effective, being an Apple product, but mainly it's success has been about high capacity and high quality . . . and getting on the market first. Just like the Macintosh has always been a step ahead of its Windows counterparts, the i-pod is clearly a step ahead right now. This Lance Armstrong thing is just another trendy fad, isn't it. They come and go.
right, but thats the part i think is silly. there are plenty of other ones, but everyone wants the "hip" one. it has white earbuds so people will know you are hip! apple has done a great marketing job, teaching people that apple is hip.
Well it may be 'silly' or a 'trendy fad' but at least the money is going to some good use. I mean hell who would have though the next big rage would be donating money to cancer so you could wear a yellow flea collar on your wrist. My grandfather died of cancer a little over a year ago so since then my family has been all about cancer research and supporting cancer charities. Last night I went over for dinner and they gave me one of the yellow bracelets. I can't bring myself to wear it but I hung it on my wall at work. :thumb:
yeah wow a whole dollar goes to cancer. symbolism over substance. people who have those bracelets have shown some serious commitment to the cause.
Martin, remove your foot... I actually agree with most of your takes but this one is just silly. Millions of people have donated/bought these bracelets. Millions X's $1= Millions for Cancer research. let me guess, "I don't have Cancer so it doesn't matter to me". You can always use that angle.......... You love that angle
why not just donate a dollar to cancer research, and not get a bracelet, thereby saving the production/distribution cost of the rubber band? think about the money wasted making bracelets that could have been donated to save lives. but crawfish, you are right, i do not have cancer, and i dont care about it much. but if i did i would hope my friends who gave money to cancer charities wouldnt care about the bracelet and would refuse it, hoping to trick some other moron who normally doesnt care about cancer but was convinced by the bracelet to give one whole dollar (minus bracelet expenses).
Now that there are millions of tacky yellow bracelets in circulation they should up the stakes" Tacky rubber Bronze bracelet - $5 Tacky rubber Silver bracelet - $10 Tacky rubber Gold bracelet - $25 Tacky rubber Platinum bracelet - $50 The money would come pouring in from people who would be afraid of looking non trendy if they wore anything less than a tacky rubber platinum bracelet.
