I get what you are saying, but I draw the line at trying to write into law how to be a parent in every regard. I live in Texas. We home school. I dont want to live in some shit state that doesn't think I am capable of teaching my kids; but you know, there are states like that. Back in the day, you would be right. This kid and his family would be chopped up and their land/possessions taken. Society just isnt that way anymore and frankly, mob rule is wrong majority of the time...
I know where you live motherfucker! Sort of. At least in a county. Our view is separated by a fine line on this one and I would agree with you until today. Brian Laundrie's parents did no wrong. The kid who shot up that Florida school, parents aren't culpable. These people didn't cause their kid to do this (as far as we know now) but there is something fishy about this story though. Not fishy like fresh caught fish but fishy like buying fish at a Kroger in Collin County. No parent has been brought in to date when their kid did something like this. We haven't heard the end of it. I might change my mind.
I think the issue is access to the gun. If you eliminate that then the shooting doesn't happen or if it does the kid would have had to acquire the gun another way. This makes me a lot more aware of where my guns are. I believe this is where the parents are going to get into trouble in that they allowed the kid to get the gun.
We should reserve words such as "deplorable" to things that really matter. Swimming records? Who gives a rat's ass. Deliberately dividing this country by race, gender, and sexuality... THAT'S deplorable.
