How did this event compare/relate to the NCAA's or is there such a thing for rowing? IIRC, Oregon rowing is a club team, not an official NCAA sanctioned team.
As I understand it, rowing is an NCAA sport for women only. Its big with Title IX, because its expensive and draws a lot of walk ons, so it offsets football better than any other women's sport. Rowing is a club sport for men with, I'm assuming, a choice of organizations to join. The American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) has about 165 member schools, including from the PAC 10, USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington St. SEC schools include LSU, Florida, Georgia, Bama, Auburn, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, SC and Texas A&M. Cal-Santa Barbara and Cal-Irvine both did very well this weekend. From other parts of the country, Michigan, Virginia and Georgia Tech also had a big weekend. USC did not enter.
mctiger wins,.. I gotta wear the avatar of his choice until the 4th of July. What's it gonna be ol buddy?
