I honestly think based on potential LSU is a top 10 football program. Before Saban we really hadn't realized that potential (at least not in the modern era). I think that has a lot to do with politics and general support of football. I think Saban really changed the mindset, but I can't say I'm not afraid we'll return to the dark ages or the mediocre ages before that.

I feel 75% sure that Miles is bringing us back to the years when we were lucky to compete with the aggies and we didn't really belong on the same field with Nebraska. We were a strong afterthought in the world of college football. That mediocrity was the reason for those dark ages of the early 90s and I almost prefer the struggle of getting back on top to the constant drone of pretty good but not great football.

I think of Coker though that isn't an exact comparison.

We've had ho-hum seasons for two years in a row, something Saban never had, and to add insult to injury Saban has gone undefeated in the SEC during that same time span.

The major issue for two years? Last year I'd say it was the major issue (Miles bears some of the responsibility for bringing him here and relying so heavily on him), but this year I say give me a break.

I feel much better about our losses this season. Being taken to the woodshed is embarrassing.

It's funny how you can defend Miles while trashing what Saban has accomplished. If Miles had gone undefeated in SEC play in back to back years I'm pretty sure he'd be beyond reproach in your eyes.

He HAD to? Really? Why? He had a 5* QB in Mitch Mustain on the roster who was far older and even started in the SEC. Why didn't PC develop him and have him ready??? He also had a 4* redshirt sophomore in Aaron Corp. Why didn't PC develop him and have him ready?? Why was the best option a true freshman that has talent, but failed to deliver the bacon?

I won't even bother pointing out the sheer stupidity of your double standard in regards to Stoops.

And so has Miles - last year, and again this next year. Many coaches go through it but PC gets a pass.

Point is not that PC is a bad coach, because he isn't. Point is the double standard employed to fit your own vendetta about Miles. But it actually seems less like a vendetta vs Miles, than sounding like a poser bama fan stirring **** to me. Saban was a great coach for LSU, but did not walk on water. Miles has been a great coach for LSU, but also doesn't walk on water.

Most of this saban love is the same as the love of the backup qb. Entitled, unknowledgeable fans perpetually wanting the bigger, better, thing. Im done with this poser.

Changes need to be made, but it amazes me that fans claim to actually watch the games and think everything can be fixed with a magic bullet. Especially one aimed at Miles forehead.

Nootch stated it clearly, and I have yet to see anyone pick up his challenge. Who can name the coach that averaged 10+ wins/year, won a conference+national championship and got fired?? AND, who do you think will come in and do better?? Instead of continuing to bash Miles/crowton, and rub sabans jock, who will come in and promise you 1-2 more wins, and I guess playing in the SECCG every year??

I get the uneasiness and I understand that some people genuinely dislike Miles as a coach, or even think he has us heading to a cliff. Why is everyone so anxious to push us over it??

I actually am, in fact, over Saban's departure. You, however, clearly aren't. As it seems to point in ALL of your posts.

I'm not doubting Saban was a great coach here. And also, this thread isn't about Fisher, either. Contribute something here. I'm trying to find your angle, but you won't let me. Help me help you.

And there was not mythical national chamionship. Unicorns are myths. Not something I've seen with my own two eyes. Learning is your friend.

I tend to agree.Anyone that has played organized sports is aware that practice results tend to dictate who plays, the game plan, and play calling etc.
In practice, you run plays, blocks, etc until it is done right. In a game, you don't have the chance for "do overs."

i watched that sportscenter 30 for 30 last night on "the U" (i know it's old by now) but i did find it weird to see that schellenberger won a nc, then jimmy johnson won one with the previous coaches' players. then erickson won a nc with the previous coaches' players. and all were loved (relatively different amounts but still) no one valued one NC over another b/c of who recruited the players. maybe coker was the first that got treated like miles (or vice versa).

my patience with miles is waning but not enough to take away past credit he deserved. some of you sound like bama fans.

Regular season, but 17-1 and two straight SECC isn't anything to sneeze at, especially considering he started this two years removed from the Shula era.

No, not really. Bama fans are OK with the recruits Shula brought in. I like giving the man credit for something.

But Miami's talent level was off the charts regardless of who was their coach.

What often gets lost over here is that LSU's talent level is extremely high.

Even if changes were ever made at the helm someone is going to inherit a very talented team.
