Or simply kept an eye on Ramsey. Long distance archery comes at you like a lob from the outfield, not like a rifle. You can dodge the damn arrow!
I think its about time for Howland Reed to make an appearance... I assume that the Northern Houses will begin to filter in to bend the knee to a restored House Stark. That would include House Reed. Also... In the books, Maege Mormont was sent to Greywater Watch (Reed) by Robb Stark before the Red Wedding. If she knows about Robb's will, then not only will Howland reveal Jon's parentage, but Maege will reveal that he was legitimized (if needed, because Targaryens were known to be polygamists... R + L married?) and named heir by Robb. Jon Targaryen, King in the North?
Yep, and there was also one that says that Jon executes Melisandre for burning Shireen alive and when he does, Longclaw is set ablaze with Mel's inner fire and transforms into Lightbringer. That's one theory that technically could happen, but it's kind of out there. Unless Jon can be both a Targaryen and Azor Ahai at the same time. There was another one that didn't come to pass that I was sort of hoping was true and that was Jagen H'gar (sp?) was actually Syrio Forel and that's why he had a soft spot for Araya.
@LSUsupaFan is going to be very disappointed. The biggest book mystery and theory over the last 15 or so years was just confirmed.
How come? Was it though? I guess in a way, it was, but we really couldn't hear what she was whispering at the beginning. I have to question the time line of when all of this happened. So Catelyn was first betrothed to Neds older brother Brandon, but he was killed by the Mad King. As such, she then married Ned. But how long after Ned's brother and father were killed did the Tower of Joy occur? Ned looked pretty young in that scene. So basically, we're asked to believe that after Brandon's death, Ned went home, married Catelyn AND had a baby with her (Robb), then went back off to war with Robert and find his sister in the ToJ? That's a lot of things happening in what appears to be a very short window of time. Or am I way off track?
Ned was in the Vale with Robert and Jon Arryn when Brandon went south to demand Rhaegar be punished and Lyanna returned. Rickard was called south to answer for his son. They were killed and Aeys ordered Ned and Robert to both be killed. Jon Arryn refused and they all called their banners. Jon Arryn facilitated the Stark Tully marriage with Ned and Cat, they were married and consummated the marriage immediately and Cat was impregnated with Robb. Robert's rebellion was then underway and the Starks, Tully's, Baratheons, Arryns etc went south. Rhaegar met Robert and company at the Trident and the last dragon was slain by Robert. He was however injured and ordered Ned to go south and take Kings Landing. Aerys called the Lannisters back to KL, he had a few years earlier accepted Tywin's resignation as hand of the King. There was bad blood between Aerys and Tywin. Tywin wanted Rhaegar to marry Cersei and instead Aerys married Rhaegar to Elia Martell, and to rub salt in the wound he accepted Jaime into the Kingsguard. Had Rhaegar beaten Robert, Tywin probably would have helped the Targaryeans. Instead he acted like the savior of the city and strolled into Kings Landing as an ally to the Mad King before the Stark army arrived. Aerys wanted to burn the entire city, Lannisters included and demanded Jaime kill Tywin when he realized the Lannisters betrayed him. Jaime stabbed him in the back, and Tywin ordered that Rhaegar's wife and children to be murdered. Gregor Clegane raped and murdered Elia Martell and bashed her children's heads against walls. When Ned finally arrived he arrived to open gates and Jaime sitting on the throne. He demanded that Robert punish the Lannisters for their actions against Rhaegar's children and wife, Robert declined and they made words against each other and Ned left to find his sister. Her death brought Ned and Robert close again, but he still always held the Lannisters as dishonorable and flakes who only join the side they think will win. Ned made up a lie about sleeping with another woman and having a bastard because he knew if Robert knew Lyanna and Rhaegar had a child, Robert would want that child killed, as he obviously didn't do shit when the other Targaryean children were murdered, and all those years later when Robert names Ned hand of the King, Ned is proven right all that time to keep Jon's identity a secret because Robert wants a little Targareyan girl, Danerys, killed as well. I mean the whole r+l=J thing has been around for a long time and while we all believed it to be true, it was still never confirmed until tonight. Speaking of timelines, how the fuck does Arya get to the Twins so fast, and how does Varys get to Dorne and back so damn fast?
