I do have an opinion or.two...three?

I'll start wirh a question. When was the last time LSU started a season with no touchdowns from previous seasons from the running backs?

An advantage LSU has in the west this year is experience in coaching.

Nice rebound but screw the west, Terry. No one remembers who won the Big 10 West or the PAC 12 North. I want it all!

    It's a process--west comes before title.

Not always , hiccup, 2011, hiccup.

Winning the West should certainly be a goal, but the emphasis many LSU fans put on beating you guys distracts from the ultimate goal of a NC, imo. While we should certainly play to win, the fact of the matter is that we don’t need to beat Bama to be in the conversation at the end. We just need to take care of business in the other games. If we do that, we’ll be in it regardless of the Bama outcome. Much easier said than done. I’m optimistic Ed can do it. Aranda stuck around for a reason (see article above), and Ensminger has taken over as OC for a reason (other article above). Both have been in coaching for a long time and see the potential. In reality, we’re probably at least a season away, but I’m always optimistic going into a new season. Ed doesn’t have the luxury of time, though, with the high expectation, restless LSU fan base. Hopefully, this season at least exceeds expectations, and we get to see whether he can truly build a winner.

Follow along, guys. You're a step ahead of the conversation.

Contending for the title means contending in the west, right?

I was going to mention '17 earlier today when I read ...
...but he mentioned Ensminger. His name brings something else into play...

...a bit of hyperbole there. But.

One reason I don't think LSU competes for the west is Ensminger.

The bot on my site grabbed this article last night about '11 and the BCS. There's a comment in it that led me to a few thoughts. One of them had to do with what happened in both seasons as well. Okie State loses to an unranked team in an embarrassing fashion and this past year it was Ohio State losing in an embarrassing fashion.

Goes to prove the old saying just about every team winning the title catches a break, needs some luck/help, along the way.
