Not sure about too many hats but maybe. One thing for sure it seems there are less and less consistantly accurate kickers these days. How many years has it been since LSU has had a top notch kicker that was consistantly good? I'd love to see a Morton Anderson show up and play for 4 years in Tiger town. Meanwhile Jackson needs to keep up the fantastic job of punting, really good job of KO's and work on his consistancy on FG's.
Agree the criticism is uncalled for. We are fortunate that he kicks as good as he does. If I am not mistaken, LSU does not have a kicking coach.
I think Dinardo was in Tuscaloosa with ESPN. Chris Jackson is awesome. It doesn't bother me that he missed three long field goals. I'm more concerned with the offense.
Acutally DiNardo was in Tuscaloosa this weekend with ESPN Radio GameDay. But Cedric - calling Les Miles an idiot for attempting FGs - that's ludicrous. Would you have said the same thing about Miles on his decision to go for the TD had JV not scored? LSU was in a position to win that game in regulation because of Chris Jackson's punting. Now, I have never liked having the punter do the placekicking as well. I'll say they do need to find a placekicker and let Jackson solely do the punting. But calling him an idiot is waaaaay out of line. He's a sensational athlete who's struggled with consistency in his placekicks and I think it's because he has such a strong leg that LSU can even think about attempting 40+ field goals.
CJ had plenty of distance on all 3 misses. He's a good kicker, but needs to work on his timing/technique. If he could get accurate, he'd be good from 50 - 55.
