well regardless, he does have a point. is it the doctor' choice to make the final decision to let her live or die?

just because "they" think its in 'everyone's" best interest its still just their opinion.

I refuse to have the right answer as their is none.

i had a dog that I was told by the vet wouldnt survive so I was gonna shoot it yet decided against it. and it survived.

I cant imagine making that decision on my child when crazier things have happened.

And there never will be a right answer. People have different beliefs and will come to different conclusions.

Doctors don't make the decision. All they can do is provide the medical facts and let the family make the decision.

It's a decision I hope I never have to make for anyone in my family. But if I ever have to make such a decision, I hope I can do so without the interference of our government. The law has always allowed the spouse to make such a decision ... they have now muddied the water on this issue.

The moral and religion issue has served the republicans well. Probably just keeping those issues fresh in our minds for the mid-term elections next year.

Or maybe he's just helping Jeb win a battle that Jeb couldn't win on his own...

Good point. That's one of the things I like about Bush, a man of conviction.

I am disappointed you didn't take the time to watch the video.
You are making a little more sense than earlier.

Let me tell you the medical facts of my uncle.
He had a second heart attack in 1994, the family was told to make plans for
burial and go on with their lives.
He was in a coma for 1 month or longer, I don't remember the exact amount
    of time.

He pulled out and is still alive today although he isn't quite the same person as before, still a living human being.
    ------------------------------------------------------------
Let me tell you the medical facts of my wife.
When she was in the Air Force, at basic the doctors told her she had some
disease where her organs were all deformed and she wouldn't live to be age
30, she found out a few days later that they were wrong.

Everything was fine, she didn't try to kill herself! :hihi:
Bottomline: Doctors make mistakes and are wrong quite often, theres no way
to know how many stories like this are out there, 2 that I know of.

Medical fact:A mal-practice suit was filed against the doctors because they
    didn't diagnose correctly, Terri Shaviro
    ------------------------------------------------------------
Doctors can do a lot of good but they aren't always right, there are stories
out there of people in comas, vegetative states and do come back to "life"
It doesn't take a genius or much time to watch the damn video and see that
this person named Terri is a human being breathing on her own, reacting and
moving around somewhat like a rational, concious human being does.
Killing her muchless starving her isn't the answer and will only help the decay
    of our society.

Michael has his experts and Terri and the parents have theres:

Terri's parents and their supporters, along with several experts and former caregivers, say that Terri responds to her surroundings, laughs, follows some instructions and has tried to say "help me" and "mommy". They want Mr. Schiavo to use some of the $700,000 set aside from an insurance settlement to pay for rehabilitative therapies, including speech and swallowing therapies.
    Mr. Schiavo has refused.

Pinellas Park, FL -- Judge George Greer will hear a motion tomorrow filed by Michael Schiavo that would prevent discovery of information regarding a bone scan conducted on Terri Schiavo that shows she may have been a victim of physical abuse.

While most media outlets have reported that Terri Schiavo collapsed at home in 1990 as a result of a potassium imbalance, Terri’s family has long suspected that the real cause may have been physical abuse at the hand of her estranged husband Michael.

A bone scan conducted on Terri in March 1991 showed she had several fractures and was the victim of “abnormal activity” that caused “previous traumas,” indicating she may have been beaten or abused.

Attorneys for Terri’s family had planned to depose Dr. Campbell Walker, the radiologist who conducted the bone scan, on Friday to obtain his further analysis of it.

Michael’s motion asks the court to block the deposition saying that the court has already dealt with the bone scan in previous hearings.

Terri’s parents Bob and Mary Schindler hope the information from Dr. Campbell will help show Judge Greer that Michael is unfit to be Terri’s guardian. A case to change guardianship to Terri’s brother Bob is pending before Greer.

The Schindlers have asked Pinellas County State Attorney Bernie McCabe on several occasions to call a grand jury to investigate the bone scan as well as other abuses during Michael’s guardianship.

At the time, McCabe declined to investigate saying too much time had passed between the collapse and the scan.

Also, doctors other than those selected by Michael’s attorney have reviewed Terri’s
    medical records.

“It was found that a heart attack did not cause Terri’s collapse as everyone was led to believe. Rather, according to one physician, Terri may have been a strangulation victim,” Pamela Hennessy, a representative of the family, told LifeNews.com previously.

The Schindlers say Michael also wants to remove any possible evidence that could be used to substantiate accusations of wrongdoing.

Michael wants Terri’s body cremated if she dies, which would deny any chance the family has to validate a long-held suspicion.

“Michael has instructed the judge to cremate her body upon her death, which adds even more suspicion to what really happened to Terri,” Bob Schindler said.

He added, “We’re trying to stop the cremation from happening if Terri does die, so
hopefully, we get to the process of investigating what may have happened to Terri that evening.”

In September, three nurses filed affidavits saying Michael has withheld proper medical care from Terri.

“He’s been trying to kill her -- that’s the bottom line,” said Carla Sauer Iyer, a 39-year-old registered nurse who cared for Terri Schiavo at a nursing home in 1995 and ‘96. She says Terri has said words such as “Mommy,” “help me” and “pain.”

George Felos, the assisted suicide advocate who is Michael’s attorney, calls the nurse’s statements, “a bunch of garbage.” He claims Michael has been insistent that Terri receive the best medical care possible.

yep, let's just starve mentally retarded people and allsheimers people that don't have quality of life.
Terri isn't on any life support and can sustain herself except for feeding.
She can interact with people and is conscious.

Not much difference than my 2 month old with down syndrome.
Some of you people need some empathy.
