even if it were a deterrent, so what. i dont want to deter anyone from drug use. if people like drugs, good for them. i know i like alcohol. if you tried to deter me from my alcohol i would be pissed. we shouldnt be in the business of making people stop doing things they enjoy.
why would you care about anyone except the ones who commit the violent crimes? why does it please you to have users in orange jumpsuits? this whole thing is exactly like the total absurdity of prohibition. i just dont understand why everyone wants to control everyone else. people like drugs, leave them alone.
if jail was a deterrent then drug use would be down and we'd have to spend less on cops and jails. id be more happy. dont you want me to be more happy?
perfect, totally agree. this is also true, but i don't see it happening because of, religion, and racism. It has been well documented that the only reason some things are illegal or carry more swift penalties was racially motivated, also financially motivated. Corporations rule the world now, and the profit the most from prohibition, well them and the cartels, so i really don't ever see anything changing. edit: forgot to touch on the religion thing, its obvious that the majority of legislators in the country are christians, most will use their religious beliefs to push their morals onto other people for control purposes as martin was talking about.
This is pretty wrong. I assume you are talking about crack, and the penalties it carries vs. coke. The reason crack carries harsher penalties is because of the violent turf wars it set off in America's inner cities. It was the largely black communities that demanded tougher laws against crack because of what it was doing to the neighborhoods they lived in. I'm gonna have to say prove it. If what you were saying were true then beer and condoms and rock and or roll music would be illegal. I think religion is just an escape goat for the decriminalization crowd. Like I said before users don't care about justice. They only want fewer consequences for themselves.
i dont necessarily think religion has anything to do with drug prohibition. i dont understand exactly why drugs are illegal.
When drug users outnumber non users, concerned parents, hard working people with conservative values and employers who insist upon dependable, safety conscious workers, maybe illicit drugs will be legalized.
As far as the cocaine vs. crack thing, keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. Quotes from Harry J. Anslinger first director of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics appointed in 1930: “There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing, result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others.” “…the primary reason to outlaw marijuana is its effect on the degenerate races.” “Marijuana is an addictive drug which produces in its users insanity, criminality, and death.” “Reefer makes darkies think they’re as good as white men.” “Marihuana leads to pacifism and communist brainwashing” “You smoke a joint and you’re likely to kill your brother.” "Marijuana is the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind.” “In the year 1090, there was founded in Persia the religious and military order of the Assassins, whose history is one of cruelty, barbarity, and murder, and for good reason: the members were confirmed users of hashish, or marihuana, and it is from the Arabs’ ‘hashashin’ that we have the English word ‘assassin.’” yeah i know doesn't sound like racism to me either. As far as beer and rock and roll music and condoms being illegal, do you think for a second that if there wasn't a way to make those things illegal they wouldn't do it? And your whole premise as to users just want decriminalization for their own use, that is the biggest bunch of crap i have ever heard in my life. The rules sure as hell haven't stopped anyone from doing it. As a matter of fact, drug use has skyrocketed year after year after year after year. It should be legal because no one, and I mean NO ONE should have the right to tell you, me, or anyone how to live their life, or what they can and cannot do inside their own home, as long as they are not violating the rights of another human being.
