While I'll agree that I would have also expected more from DMas', I WILL say that he plays within himself and the team. First, he's clearly got some players on this team to develop chemistry with... and, you've got to consider LSU's scoring options, Big Baby, Tas', and now GTemple seems to have developed into an outside shooter. So, Mason's getting less touches. He played a good amount of d' against Augustin at times, and he seemed to stay in front of him alright. I think also, he's not a pure shooter (just adequate from 3 land), he's more of slasher. So, when teams play zone, he's going to get his shots, but not to his strength. He seems to hustle, can play d and passes the ball well within the offense. I think if the Tigers develop any transition game, you'll see more from D'Mas. As I'm thinking about this, I'm sure Brady didn't want the Tigers to get in an up and down game with UT, but I'm hoping that he cranks up the d to generate breaks. The Tigers seem to feed off of that, and honestly, they didn't have one of their better defensive nights tonight. With Martin adding more depth, I think Brady's got to balance out Tas' and Temple's minutes more (neither of these guys came out... until Tas' fouled out). Get Martin in there a little more, and press or at least go at on the defensive end more. I think if Temple, Mitchell and Big Baby get all of the offensive sets, you're basically going to see a half-court game which is at times predictable and dangerous if the threes aren't falling for them.
jeezum petes. i can see missing on a guy who hasnt developed yet like tyrus so you dont rank him but cmon. next u r gonna tell me ben voogd was a 4 1/2 star. are you sure this wasnt just a typo from paula abdul?
Mason, Rolle and Minor a combined 5 of 27 shooting. Hopefully Martin can bring another scoring option for this team.
Man, I never thought we'd miss Lazare this much. Rolle is disappointing, at best. I sure hope it's his back that is making him play this way, but I can't see how an injury would cause him to be so clueless on defense, especially ball screens. Not much you can say about that last play. Down 1 with an all-american player who can draw fouls and we don't get it to him. Sad, indeed. Much work to do before SEC play starts. I hope Martin is as good as advertised.
don't know what the scouts were seeing but there are plenty of 6'10, 200 players who can jump that aren't ranked 5*. to be fair to magnum, he hasn't played organized bball that long but he hasn't even showed any kind of 5* potential just yet. treloar needs to reopen the 6 AM sessions for magnum and chris johnson.
The word is that he has two herniated discs in his back. If you have ever had one you understand. If not take it from someone who has that it is a miracle he is on the floor. Hopefully Lazare and Martin will ease some of the depth problems.
if im remembering correctly, two years ago tack was instrumental in shutting down steele, then last year we have huge problems with him (at least in one game). i think tack can effectively guard quick guards, but was unfocused/undisciplined (maybe still a half-step out of shape). i was thinking perhaps augustin hadnt been driving so much in previous games so it wasnt drilled into his head during practices. augustin certainly did more/most of his penetrating in the second half, too. what i didnt get was that barnes said augustin isnt quick.
