Now that coaches like Hugh Freeze and Dan Mullen are making over $4 Million and guys like Charlie Strong get $5 Million it won't be long before Les is not being overpaid.
cant be overpaid if thats what someone wants to pay him. now if they fire him hes going to be overpaid. contract law is not our ADs strong point.
How can it when most of his people were at 40k. Surely the base wasn't 70, looks like it was 40 and they all got a nice raise. Good for them.
This is true. Yet, consider a typical day in a corporate office. The CEO doesn't come in to work. Not that horrible, he can still get the job done remotely, take phone calls, etc. The janitor doesn't come to work and the only toilet in the building overflows.
This is true, Im not the CEO, but close and I come and go as I please, but this damn phone and ipad dont stop damn ringing or buzzing.
However, this isnt close to socialism. This is private business and a guy paying his workers what he wants to pay them according to his profits or losses. Its his business, this is not a state owned corporation that blindly gives raises because of the market rate or some other socialist viewpoint of the state. What are people not getting with this definition in this thread.
and thats the prerogative of the CEO, it aint coming out of your tax dollars or some federal appropriations program
That was never in question. I was never under the impression that this was some sort of forced thing. My issue is with the "lets make everyone equal" "lets make everyone happy" Its shitty government (which I realize this isn't a government issued thing) and it is an even worse way to run a business as I'm sure he will find out.
but he knows that better than you and me, giving up a million dollars isnt trivial by any means. Most companies that fail miss the most important point, its the people who make the company go. Equality to him probably means an emotional or psychological realm where employees dont feel underpaid vs what the CEO is taking in profits.
Did it work like that in the Army? It doesn't work like that in other government agencies either. There are a lot of levels of authority and responsibility and they are definitely not equal. There is not a lot of effort to make employees happy either. There is a lot of effort to make them more safe, fairly treated, and protected from political interference, but it does not really result in happier employees.
