1 - The budget deficit ballooned in 2008-2009 as the economy was in free fall. The Republicans like to pin this to President Obama but since even Mitt Romney suggests that a new President cannot be held responsible for the economy until their policies have had at least 6 months to take effect, there is no reasonable course for blaming Obama. In fact, the budget deficit actually shrank by 12% from 2009 to 2011 under Obama's watch. (Office of Mgmt & Budgeting) 2 - The stimulus had far less effect on the national debt and deficit than did the two wars and the Bush Tax Cuts. The stimulus cost $787 billion. The two wars and the Bush tax cuts cost a combined $5.3 trillion. 3 - George W Bush inherited an $86 billion dollar budget surplus and handed Barack Obama a $642 billion dollar budget deficit. 4 - Investors are still buying US treasury bonds. Conservative commentators have predicted for decades that eventually our debt would grow so high that investors would no longer purchase treasury bonds. Isn't happening. 5 - The Affordable Care Act reduces the deficit. Republicans have tried to label this piece of legislation as everything except what it really is. CBO scored it as a 130 billion savings in health care. Given the report that was released today stating that our health care system wasted almost a trillion dollars last year on ineffective methods, redundant practices, fraud, etc. I would say that the ACA will take full effect just in time. 6 - We are borrowing less from China. The Obama administration has, instead of borrowing from China, been borrowing from independent investors. The reasoning is that our interest payments would be better served in the hands of our own citizens rather than in China. Genius. 7 - Republicans like large deficits and debt. What else are we supposed to think? When they continue passing out tax cuts and then turning around and accusing Dems of over spending just so they can cut spending again, it doesn't take a Philadelphia lawyer to realize that this has to be their game plan. Starve the beast by passing out pass cuts, creating record deficits and debt then blame the Democrats as an excuse to cut spending.
It's like Clinton said last night, "we gave him a mess to clean up, he didn't do it fast enough, so fire him and hire us back"
Gave him a mess, that he made into a bigger mess. Propping up broken policy and bubbles with printed money doesn't help.
1: It is called leadership. Take ownership of the situation, and move forward. 4 years later we are dipping again, is this on Bush too? 2: Obama EXTENDED the tax cuts and SUPPORTED increased troop efforts 3: Obama is the president now and added to the deficit much like the Evil Bush.. Scary, isn't it? 4: You like men 5: http://www.forbes.com/sites/chrisconover/2012/07/26/healthcare-law-will-not-reduce-the-deficit-cb/ 6: China can go fuck itself 7: Democrats are gay, really..
Obama extended the tax cuts because the congressional republicans acted like fucking babies. Same way they acted with the debt ceiling, same way they acted with everything else. Their sole purpose and this has been expressed by even them, is to defeat Obama. Not to try and solve any problems, or fix any of this mess.
Why not buy bonds? If the govt fails then we are all fucked anyway. That was advice I got from an evil "Every man for himself" millionaire.
Why do we keep voting for these puppets to run our country? Why are we letting big corporations pull the strings? Why do we vote red or blue blindly instead of taking the time to find a candidate who might actually care about the "little people"? Why do you vote for these sleazeballs who constantly twist the facts and will say anything for money a.k.a votes? I see people crying about regulations on the businesses like they're a bad thing. PEOPLE ARE ARGUING TO LET OIL COMPANIES POLLUTE THE AIR AND GIVE US CANCER!?! You're arguing to help these extremely successful companies maximize their profits at the expense of our lives and tax money. WHY?! Seriously, so many people criticize our awful news stations yet they continue to express the force-fed opinions those companies spout out. Indoctrination runs strong.
