Silly Liberal. Sending more troops heightens the safety and security of all troops there.

Sure it does. It also costs more money. Taxpayer dollars. here's a cheaper option....bring the troops home! Then maybe someone can fix the 5 or so potholes I drive through everyday....

MAC, this poll contradicts what every major poll has been showing for weeks and months. Its widely known that poll respondents answers will differ based on how a question is asked. Isnt it interesting that CNN does not include the exact questions that were asked?

Just because people are not currently in favor of the war doesnt mean they want to pull out immediately. To the contrary, approx 80% of Americans do not favor pulling out of Iraq right now. The Public Opinion Strategies Poll also indicates that even though likely voters attitudes toward the Iraq War think the country is going in the wrong direction (67%) and President Bush is doing a poor job (60%), and that Iraq will never be a stable democracy (60%) most favor finishing the job (57%) and that the Iraq war is a key part in the war on terror (57%).

NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll March 2-5, 2007. Only 17% say pull out immediately.
Public Opinion Strategies Poll Feb 5-7, 2007. Only 17% say pull out immediately.
Opinion Dynamics Poll. Jan. 30-31, 2007. Only 12% say pull out immediately.

Every poll Ive seen regarding pulling out of Iraq immediately is so largely opposed it isnt even a close argument. The idea of pulling back from Iraq is not where the majority of Americans are. This CNN poll sounds like a sham IMHO.

Furthermore, most other polls show Americans are against the Dems in Congress implementing an anti war funding bill. (USA Today/Gallup Poll. March 2-4, 2007. 61% opposed)

I personally dont like an organization like CNN to come out with some poll and say its what America wants. Go over the pollingreport.com or Publicopinionstrategies.com and look at "ALL" the different polls and the "exact" questions that were asked.

Actually "CNN" doesn't do the polling. It was done by Opinion Research Corp. They're been around since the 30's. George Gallup was one of the founding members. To be fair this poll does not address pulling out "immediately." It says 2008.

Which makes the CNN story about the poll a complete spin job of gargantuan proportion. The story uses the term "immediately" in the very first sentence and in the bullet headline.

No wonder CNN is lagging badly in the ratings. Its crap like this that makes once loyal viewers like myself turn them off. pffftt...

If true, why did it take seven frickin' years for Bush to figure this out? The generals told him ON DAY ONE that it would take 500,000 troops to occupy Iraq. Raising troops levels from 130,000 to 160,000 ain't going to cut it, as you will find out in the next year. I predict the casualties will go up instead of down as well.

Sending more troops to go out patrolling and get blown up by IED's accomplishes nothing. There is nobody to fight. The rags ain't going to stand and fight. They know that its their country and they are going to just hunker down and stay there. They know that we are eventually going to leave. Nothing we can do there militarily is going to achieve "victory".

The Iraqis are going to have to sort this out themselves. Our presence is only stretching out their moment of truth. They won't do a damn thing until they have to. And they don't have to as long as we are there.

We should redeploy to protect the Kurds who cooperated with us and to seal the borders with Iran and Syria to keep out the Al Qaida foregners and the tons of munitions coming through (which should have been done on DAY ONE, as the generals had planned for).

Babysitting this civil war in Baghdad makes no frickin' sense at all. It's ruining our global military effectiveness and winning us nothing whatsoever.

It's the only thing that stopped the Vietnam War. The president has checks and balances to deal with. One of them is Congressional funding. He can not ignore the wishes of the peoples elected representatives.

This is a really stupid republican talking point that assumes we are all fools. Nobody is going to take food and ammo away from troops, nobody has suggested this, and it will not happen. The funds being cut off are those going to the President to use to continue this futile blunder until he gets out of office and can leave it to the next guy.

Cutting off funds for more administration deployment of troops in the face of public opinion, political reality, and sound military advice is saving troops lives. What makes me want to puke is people blindly supporting the failed war plans of this incompetent president. He's going to do nothing but make things worse than he already has
