Well, LaSalle has a point. Several Republicans had been calling for Bergdahl's release for years and recently, too. Then when Obama actually did it, they condemned it. Those congressmen are being kind of quiet, too. It's reinforcing the same image of the Republicans simply maintaining that whatever Obama does is wrong. They supported Bush releasing prisoners, but not Obama doing the same thing. There is a lot of the same old gridlocked, party-of-no, partisan politics here. Obama's people have just consistently underestimated the personal vehemence that the GOP has for him. They knew that the release of the Taliban would be controversial, but they did not expect the recovery of one of our POWs to be criticized as well. They thought that the meeting with Bergdahl's parents at the White House would be a humanizing touch. But Obama's staff is mostly young and young people mostly don't have military service experience. They did not anticipate that the military could be in favor of not leaving a man behind, but be outraged at an AWOL at best being treated like a returning hero.
So Red you forget to mention that while the Rs called for his rescue they balked at the price many times as did many prominent Ds. There is a CNN article that Hillary Clinton was against the swap when it was first proposed in 2011. I guess she was against it before she was for it eh? Also all you talk about is the Rs...yet what about Diane Feinstein calling the president a liar on television today...,what about the fairly universal condemnation not that he was recovered but at the price and way it was handled. There should be a separation of the discussion about the recovery of Bergdahl and the price paid for him and the means it was handed. I find it interesting that the Ds who condemned W for writing exceptions to laws he sign yet are silent about O doing the same...don't you know he used his objection to the laws requiring 30 day notice to congress in this case.
Because the release of these 5 nut jobs is going to get people killed. Tillman's story was covered up, the entire thing was a huge lie, fabricated to make him look like he died from the hands of the enemy. Same with Lynch, stories fabricated to make it look like she was going all Rambo and got captured when she never even fired her weapon. The point is, if those events happened under this administration, Fox News and the Republican Lynch Mob would be in the streets blaming Obama.
