BIG 10: Gimme OSU ACC: Miami or Va Tech BIG XII: OU bites the dust and Texas is in the running for the MNC. its the year of mac brown. PAC 10: ah hell how can u not pick USC in that conference even if they had no coach. Big East - I think the MAC's Bowling Green will rank above anyone here and possibly be in the top 10. SEC: Im drinking some of the Urban Kool-Aid just not all of it. LSU and UGA or UF in hotlanta.
This comment from the Big Ten meeting last week in Chicago: If Michigan had last year's player of the year and this year's choice for best conference QB, if they had the top two returning receivers in the conference and 9 returning offensive starters from a 10-2 team, if they had one of the two top ranked linebacking corps in the conference, and three returning starters in the defensive backfield, and arguably the best conference coaching staff.... they would be the odds on choice to win the Big Ten. Michigan does not have any of the above, Iowa does. Yet Michigan was picked as the conference favorite in Chicago. Why? ... because they're Michigan.
Michigan is going to be loaded next year but I don't think they have the defense to go undefeated in the Big Ten.
1) Michigan's always loaded... last losing season was 1966. 2) Michigan gave up an average of 33 points in their last four games last year... and graduated their top two defensive guys. If Troy Smith is everything they say, then tOSU is the team to watch (and that hurts to say it!)
With expectations so high for both teams, the early season matchup between Ohio State and Texas should draw one hell of a TV audience. I'm looking forward to that one. By the way, I'm an Iowa fan too.
Word in the Hawk camp is Albert Young, our heir-apparent to Freddie Russell last year, is now healed and ready to go. If so, he's an awesome back... a Maroney (Minn) type guy. Also, there's much chatter that one of our big time recruits, Tony Moeaki, is the real deal and can step right in, ala Dallas Clark, as a true TE threat... which we've been missing.
I'll go with what I said in another thread, uSUCK doesn't even make it and it's OSU and LSU. Of course when it becomes obvious uSUCK won't make it the media will have every fit imaginable and make every excuse known to man and the klingons that uSUCK was/is really the best. Everybody else is playing for second.
I actuallly grew up listen to WHO replays late at night when Iowa was garbage and became a quasi-fan then. I hate "good sports" after loses like the Capitol One Bowl and the 1988 Ohio State game. Those two school do not allow the chance to vent at them and have that jackass moment found in Gainesville, Oxpatch, and Awbarn.
Hawker, I sincerely hope we have a rematch in Pasadena in early January. Of LSU! course :geauxtige we ldskule: know how that game :helmet: would :crystal: :helmet: :champs: turn out...LOL. You Hawkeye fans are a classy bunch, and your team and coach ball like few others. Also, thanks for visiting TF.com so frequently! Always good to have cool visitors.
