    Vive La France a day after Bastille Day and a little over 204 years since Napoleon invaded Russia, France wins a World Cup in Russia.

    Yeah, the last time France ever led the charge from the front.

    I was rooting for Croatia. Serious athletes and Croatia earned their independence the hard way in the modern era. Impressive.

    You must be forgetting WW1 they were still one of the greatest armies in the world until after that war just decimated them. Coincidentally that’s probably why they are so good at soccer.

    If their army was so great why did they get decimated? France hadn't had a great army since Napoleon.

    I don't watch soccer but when they talked about the French players on the radio none of them had French sounding names. An LSU hockey team made up of all Canadians would be more authentic.
