Time is running out on him. I believe this will be his 5th year with the Dodgers organization. I read the other day that he finally made AAA for a time last season. He went 7-13 and had like a 5.50 ERA. To my knowledge in 5 years, he has yet to spend 1 day in the major leagues even with the late season, expanded rosters. The guy made exactly the right decision even though IMO he had little chance to make it in baseball. His relatives said he wouldn't take $1 million to play baseball. The Dodgers owner stupidly overpaid at $5 million...every cent guaranteed. LSU got screwed on that one. ZL wanted to come and stay at LSU...but who would turn down $5 million.

Yeah, if I remember right, I loved the guy's play. Now there was a WRer who knew how to play football. Some of the 2014 LSU FR WRers could have learned fundamentals from that guy because they certainly lacked them this past season. But as I remember, he didn't last long. Back issue right? Had to give up football sort of like the Cooper Manning kid did at Ole Miss.

If that was unfounded gossip, it was the most widespread ever. As you said, everyone said the said thing about Patterson wanting to be the only QB in the class....especially with Franks already committed at LSU and essentially just as highly rated. Franks has been asked about worrying about LSU signing another QB...he said he was still coming to LSU. That tells you who has a chest and who doesn't. And once again, when you and your brother are a package deal (already proven by them both deserting Arizona), that doesn't shot much of a chest either. Seems like we have another Gunner Kiel in the making. I for one don't want to bother with that soap opera.

A look back at 25 years of the Super Dozen

    By SCOTT HOTARD

    Published: Jan 25, 2009 - UPDATED: 12:05 a.m.

College football recruiting, seemingly, has been around as long as college football.

Yet we all know a time existed before the days of players announcing on national television which university had won their hearts.

Some of us even remember a daily newspaper in Baton Rouge without a Super Dozen.

So for readers of all stripes — young and old, men and women, recruiting fanatic or just plain fan in the fall — we hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane as we celebrate our 25th edition of the Super Dozen.

    1985

Tommy Hodson and Terrence Jones became two of the state’s most prolific college QBs: Hodson, a four-year LSU starter, still holds virtually every career passing record there; Jones rolled up 9,445 yards passing and rushing as Tulane’s dual-threat extraordinaire. ... Tony Moss caught passes from Hodson at LSU, where he earned first-team All-SEC recognition. ... Karl Dunbar, a standout defensive lineman for the Tigers, is now an assistant coach for the Vikings in the NFL.

    LB Jamie Bice, LaGrange

    RB Tony Citizen, Church Point

    WR Craig Dartez, Cecilia

    DL Kenny Davidson, Huntington

    LB Oliver Lawrence, Neville

    RB Tony Moss, Bossier

    1986

Brian Mitchell was a dual-threat QB ahead of his time at Louisiana-Lafayette, where he started four years. But he is best known for his success as a return man in the NFL, as he collected 19,013 yards and scored 13 special-teams touchdowns in a 14-year career. ... Leroy Hoard starred at Michigan, then enjoyed a 10-year NFL career that included a Pro Bowl selection i1994. ... Eddie Fuller became an LSU immortal in 1988 in “The Earthquake Game,” making the catch that rocked the campus.

    TE Stephen Clark, John Curtis

    1987

Bucky Richardson was a Davey O’Brien Award finalist in 1991 after leading Texas A&M to the SWC championship. ... Todd Kinchen, a five-sport prep star, earned first-team All-SEC honors twice. He went to the Rams with the 63rd pick of the 1992 draft, three selections after Marc Boutte — his All-SEC teammate — went, also to the Rams. ... Mickey Joseph, one of the nation’s most coveted prospects, signed with Nebraska to run the option offense. But he started only a few games there.

Baron Jackson, who intercepted 63 passes in high school, signed with Pitt but finished his career at Southern, where he played receiver. He died at 24 after being shot during a dispute, the incident ruled a justifiable homicide. ... Tyrone Hughes made a name for himself returning kicks and punts for the hometown Saints, who picked him in the 1993 draft out of Nebraska.

James Jacquet rushed for 223 yards in two seasons at LSU, then ran against academic issues. Germaine Williams was mostly a blocking back there... The most coveted QB in the nation might have been Peyton Manning, who shattered school passing records after signing with Tennessee and now has a street named after him. He has won three MVP awards and a Super Bowl ring to boot. Or it might have been Josh Booty, who signed a pro baseball contract out of high school. He finally made it to LSU in 1999, but never rekindled his schoolboy magic. ... Ike Hilliard became an All-American at Florida. After being named LSU’s 29th football coach, Gerry DiNardo headed right to Carencro, where Kevin Faulk was the big man on campus. Smart move. After signing with the Tigers, Faulk compiled 6,883 all-purpose yards in four years. He has since won three Super Bowls with the Patriots. DiNardo also landed Anthony McFarland, a future All-American at noseguard. “Booger” was a first-round pick in the ‘99 draft and has won Super Bowl rings with the Bucs and the Colts.

Midway through his senior season, Mark Roman, a four-year starter at LSU, was ruled ineligible after having inappropriate contact with an agent.
