You said that LSU could not have a good passing game with Jennings. So I stand by my original statement. When all the other areas of the passing game theoretically are corrected and you say it still wouldn't work, that only leaves Jennings, doesn't it? You simply aren't competent enough to analyze the issue.
BOT: I know, I keep trying.... Can we move this tag team stuff somewhere else? As to the subject at hand. This cat, guess he has nine lives, cause we keep coming back to him. And yes I did say to move on. A few things to look at... The Saints have a very good QB, played in Tx, how many college teams in Tx didn't offer? Had to play at Purdue. The QB that signed with Old Mrs, came from Tx, born up North, I think Ohio. The school he came from is in a system, much like Evangel, John Curtis. How many QB's have done real well from those schools in college? Many of the QB's leave and play other positions. Speaking of, this kid didn't want LSU to sign another QB in the class, where have we seen this one before? A few years back LSU had a QB that said the same thing, this QB ended up at Old Mrs. He finished up playing the TE position. Years ago, the best athlete on the team played QB, not any more, look at the top 20 players in the state of La, how many are WR, DB, etc. This didn't just start. Former Saints QB Bobby Hebert played the Safety position in high school up till and injury of a teammate moved him to the QB position. A few years back the LSU baseball team had 7 or 8 former high school QB's on the team. Many schools still use ath. at QB, Russell Shepard, Joseph Addai, Spencer Ware, Mo Claiborne, etc. In today's world, kids that play the position in high school, have the checks-with-me, the sideline does it all. This has moved to college. There were 6 QB's taken before Tom Brady in the 2000 NFL Draft, and Tom was taken in the 6th round, so it's not just colleges that are missing. I could type so much more on this subject, but I'll stop here. Sorry as to being so long winded.
This may be late in the game and perhaps I missed it but did he really say that and is there a quote somewhere? Or did someone just claim he said it or imply it?
It was said by more than one insider. As to some word, didn't like Franks coming in the same year. Some kids don't care how many QB's you sign. As for the Lane kid, he let Jimbo know that he wanted to be the only QB in the class. The other QB signed in that class, didn't care. And I think that former LSU QB did ok. Oh, Lane was a pro baseball prospect, and it was a good shot to get drafted, LSU wanted a backup plan. This was one thing UT and Strong was pushing with Brossette, the number of RB on the roster and the ones coming in the class. Last year there were over 50 QB's that transferred from one college to another, kids don't want to sit, and everyone is better than the starter, just ask them, they'll tell you.
Patterson looks a lot better than Robert Lane though. And all they would have to do is convince the kid they need more qb's in case he goes down.
Yeah, I've never seen a guy get overhyped like Patterson in a long while. Not saying he won't make it, but for those to delusionally think he is a sure fire star, they simply haven't kept up with HS "phenoms" who do squat in college. The Booty boys (Josh and John David) were highly rated. I wouldn't call them busts but earning their HS ratings...not by a long shot. Brock Berlin who went to a couple of different schools...originally from Evangel like the Booty boys.... mediocre at best. And as you stated, NOT really from LA, did NOT want another QB taken in his class, and you left out the most important part. Someone is going to have to hold hands with him and his brother in what has to be one of the most demanding package deals in NCAA history. Sorry, I like you I believe, can do without that. And despite the attempted discredits by some of the Dinardo quote, it does indeed hold. The ones that kill you in recruiting are not the ones who sign elsewhere but the ones you sign who don't live up to the billing.
Speaking of Baseball players, perhaps it was here but I thought I heard or read that Z. Lee was ready to hang up the rosin bag and come back home to football? Any truth to this?
