The funny thing is, no one debates how bad Driskel is. In a shinny turd scale, Jennings is one shade brighter.
Tommy Tuberville isn't my favorite coach on the planet but I agree with him here. He was the color analyst (between Auburn and Texas Tech jobs so it was a while back) for I believe the Under Amour game. He said that by far the two toughest positions to judge out of HS for college evaluation are QB and CB. Most of the other positions you have a good chance of projecting up to the next level, but there are so many intangibles and skills with those particular positions that basically he said (MY interpretation), many times it is a crap shoot.
Not only that but there are lots of positions where players move around....linebacker to end, WR to TE, WR to SS, OT to Center, etc. A QB is pretty much a QB. Someone out of HS is still so early in their arm strength and field vision and ability to withstand pressure is difficult to measure.
True, at one time I remember Va Tech having like 4 players on the OL that were former TE's in high school. Years ago, the best athlete on the high school team, played QB. Now, those guys are playing DB, WR, RB, Safety, etc. All too often, guys that use to play FB are now playing LB, as to not many teams using the FB position. To add, a few years back, LSU had 7 or 8 players on the Baseball team that were former high school QB's.
One of two things will happen at Ole Miss. Either they stay mediocre at best or Freeze recruits and coaches well enough to get offered a higher profile job After a great season. Hope Patterson is committing to the school because the coach might not be there in the near future.
Totally agree with everything here; EXCEPT I don't care why Patterson is committing to Old Piss. The fact that he did is enough for me to want to see him on his back with 2 of Coach O's guys on top of him. Second thought, after considering the whole brother thing make it 3 O guys
Two of those three were decent to good QBs in college. They weren't allstars but they were definitely solid starters... Of course, the third went to LSU.
Bullshit... It's the ones you don't sign but your in-conference, in-division rival doe sign that hurts you... Lesticles misses on a lot of kids that end up on the other sideline on Saturdays...
You do know? Booty finished his sophomore season throwing for 2,121 yards, which at the time was the third-best performance by a sophomore in LSU history, behind Jeff Wickersham's 1983 sophomore season (2,542 yards) and Tommy Hodson's 1987 sophomore season (2,125 yards). Booty was voted to the first team All-SEC Team, becoming the first LSU quarterback to be awarded that honor since Tommy Hodson (first team All-SEC Team, 1986–1989). He was also on NFL teams for four years.
