Agree, fully. This whole sour grapes rationalization that ET is spouting is a farce. We would have much rather had him, regardless of his commitment to his brother, the competition question, etc. Having said that, he's now Tiger Bait. Hopefully, he's just another overrated S'port QB, in the lines of Brock Berlin. Not wishing bad on the kid, just don't want him to be as good as advertised since he now will be playing against LSU.
Probably closer to being like Gunner Kiel....prima donna, pretty immature, already has decommitted from Arizona because big brother wasn't going to be there. And of course the word is he didn't want another QB signed in the class of the school he goes to....sounds like afraid of competition. And if he doesn't eventually become the starting Ole Miss, he will bail on them just like Gunner Kiel did on ND.
Kiel is starting for Cincinnatti and doing a better job than our qb's though. I may be wrong, won't be the first or last time, but I'd much rather have Patterson than any qb on LSU's roster, or Franks.
Comparing apples and oranges unless you are actually trying to tell me that Cincinnati remotely plays the caliber of schedule/caliber of defenses LSU does. And I watched their bowl game vs Virginia Tech (which VT won easily BTW) and he didn't help with crucial INTs that led to lost scoring chances in the game. In fact, if you watched the bowl game, the announcers said that Kiel had good numbers during the season but the knock on him is he makes crucial mistakes in games. So thanks but no thanks...I don't want Kiel as the QB of LSU. Saw enough INTs in the Va Tech game to assure me of that. Jennings played better vs ND than Kiel did vs VT. As far as Patterson and Franks, once again, neither has even played his SR season yet. 24/7 has Franks rated higher...some of the other services have Patterson rated higher. I will wait until the season plays out their SR year.
From what I've read USC planned to take another QB in their class, and he wasn't happy with that. Same thing with LSU. It makes little sense to me when recruits do this.. not wanting other guys in their class at their position. You gotta compete once on campus anyway. Darrel Williams and Leonard Fournette thankfully did not subscribe to this foolish methodology. If you don't want to compete you're going to be in a tough spot at LSU or USC. Brandon Harris proved last year feeling entitled to the position not only hurts your own chances for success but also hurts the team's chances.. hopefully he's remedied things, but he could have with more dedication locked up the job instead LSU struggled with Jennings. Who knows how Patterson turns out, but I'm all for LSU recruiting multiple QBs. We're not good enough in QB recruiting to put all our eggs in one basket which Patterson wanted.
So when did the problem become not showing commitment. For the last few years the problem has been lack of execution, not commitment.
Running your offense with tailbacks at the quarterback position doesn't seem like a commitment to the forward pass to me.
LSU has definitely made it known they would take 2 QBs in this class if they found 2 they wanted to sign. It bothered Patterson...didn't bother Franks which says a lot to me. LSU only has 3 QBs on scholarship right now including the just signed McMillan. The key for LSU is to keep Franks committed and maybe come up with another guy. I just wait for the Patterson coronation since just like Kiel, he apparently thinks he shouldn't have to compete for the job. But at least Kiel didn't have a brother to confuse things even more when he wanted to be pretty much assured of the job. Package deals like Patterson and his brother and maybe even a couple of Calvary players to boot...not the way to go IMO.
