LSU lands another Texas commitment Shea Dixon - 53 minutes ago The LSU staff has reeled in yet another prospect out of the Lone Star State, this time grabbing a commitment from outside linebacker prospect Rahssan Thornton. "I actually committed last Thursday," Thornton said. "I told the coaches I wanted to keep it down though. I wanted to just be able to do it on my own." The commitments put the Tigers at 16 total commitments for the 2016 class. They move up to the No. 2 class in the country, remaining No. 1 in the SEC. "It’s just the fact that I always wanted to go there, and I have family there," Thornton said. "I liked the campus and like the coaching staff there. It was just a great fit for me. My whole family is excited about it." Thornton said he dialed up the staff last week with the good news, which was welcomed with open arms by area recruiter Bradley Dale Peveto and head coach Les Miles. "Coach Peveto said he wants me at outside linebacker, and he was excited that I decided on LSU," Thornton said. "They were fired up, especially Coach Miles. He was just pumped up to have me get on board and become a Tiger. "It feels really good. I am relaxed now. I am glad to have it out there."
Hey @bhelmLSU where is your buddy? He might be interested in this. I'm sure @mottthehoople can get the message to him.
Happens all the time. Usually prearranged by the staff too. That is why we see many kids not officially commit until the parents are on the visit with them. The staff feels that it is more serious commitment that way and a celebration together. Family feel...
Another huge get for the staff. Got to believe that the Shorthorns being down the past few years has made recruiting in Texas a little easier, especially on the defensive side of the ball.
Tirk, I forgot we're projecting this guy at OLB rather than DE. So we have 3 highly touted LBs in this class.
