Paul Butterfield (never heard of him) Joan Jett (ok) Green Day (like a couple of songs, but not really a fan. Whatever..) Lou Reed (ok) Stevie Ray Vaughan (deserving) Bill Withers (never heard of him) This year's inductees are 'ho hum'. To me, the RR HOF has ZERO credibility until they induct Iron Maiden and maybe Deep Purple. Maiden has been selling multi platinum albums/tapes/cds for nearly 45 years and to this day, can fill arenas to overflowing capacity anywhere in the world and they don't deserve to be in the HOF? Bullshit! Up the Irons! Let Maiden in.. even though they could care less (or so they say)
Butterfield is a rock/blues great. Listen to Super Sessions with Butterfield, Stephen Stills and Al Kooper. Bill Withers had one hit that I know of: Use Me Up. I wouldn't put him in the HOF. Gren Day and Joan Jett. Ho hum. SRV should get his own wing in the Hall.
Bill Withers is tha shit, but lean on me alone gets him the nod. Joan Jet, still kinda hot for a where are they now chick. SRV is God. Butterfield had his day, just not sure he stood the test of time. Lou Reed is dead, so there. I mean, if KISS can get in, Lou was a sure shot. Green Day makes me not even care about the whole thing.
Putting Green Day in the Rock n Roll HOF with the likes of Elvis, Jagger/Richard, Lennon/McCartney, Eric Clapton, ect is like putting a career minor leaguer in the same hall with Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Bob Gibson and Sandy Koufax.
Butterfield and Lou Reed were pioneers and very influential in rock, Jett and Vaughn are deserving, Withers was good but was a one-hit wonder and doesn't belong, Green Day is a joke but they have sold 75 million records internationally. They need to reduce the inductees to one a year instead of 5 and maybe these minor league acts would not even be considered.
Agree except for Withers....Lean On Me, Ain't No Sunshine, Just the Two of Us, Lovely Day. He also wrote and produced for folks like Etta James, BB King, James Brown. 7 Grammy nominations, 3 wins for 3 different songs. Frankly, once Madonna was inducted, the entire Hall and process became a sham IMO.
For me it was when Billie Holiday was inducted. She didn't even do rock and roll. Madonna rocked, at least and she sold a ton of records.
