It did happen and it was hilarious. What makes it so funny is the thought that they probably weren't embarrassed about it later.
To be honest though, and I'm one to talk since I hate Bama, we're looking at this through LSU colored lens right now. They beat even if just 1 game in a series what is probably the best team in college baseball. For those kids that was a pretty big win. Should they have dogpiled, not likely, but when you're a serious underdog even just a one game win is pretty big.
So, it's safe to say they didn't meet expectations? Going from tourney champs in one conference to a play in game in another; hrrmm. I wonder if they dealt with a lot of attrition. 'preciate the info.
Is it me, or did we get snubbed? A #4 ranking? It may not matter much, but I thought it was between us and Vandy for #1.
Seems that way. Would have thought winning the SEC tourney, and beating Vandy head-to-head would net a better ranking. I think, though, the #4 is an easier path to the CWS. Geaux Tigers!
Think of it like basketball with four #1 seeds, that's the same thing here with LSU, Vandy, UNC, Oregon St Here's how the NCAAT got seeded, with Bracket One playing Bracket Two in the Championship Series Bracket One 1 UNC v South Carolina/Clemson 8 Oregon v NC State/Ole Miss 4 LSU v Oklahoma/Virginia Tech 5 Cal State Fullerton/Arizona State v UCLA ....................................... Bracket Two 2 Vandy/Georgia Tech v Louisville/Oklahoma State/Miami 7 FSU/Bama v Florida/Indiana 3 Oregon State/Texas A&M v Arkansas/K-State 6 Virginia v Miss State
Yep Also, note how the #2 and #3 national seeds got a rough draw. For example, here are comments from a Vandy forum: Sons of a ____! Georgia Tech and Illinois in our regional?! Did you see LSU's (the #4 seed's) region? Four absolutely no-name programs. Horse manure. It's the Louisville match-up that annoys me more than anything else. They could have been a national seed over some teams that actually got the nod, and yet they are paired with the 2 seed? Ga tech is pretty good, but Illinois doesn't worry me at all. They really didn't do us any favors with this draw, did they? I don't get it. Either someone on the committee isn't too keen on the Commodores, or ESPN, with their far-reaching "influence," just enjoys trying to see that Vandy gets an especially tough road because it's so entertaining and drama-packed when "little old Vandy" has to struggle their asses off to succeed. looking at the brackets I would pick any other one to be in but ours.
