and Stratton it is (6'3, 198 RHP from Tupelo, MS ). he's #1 in the SEC with 10 wins (Gausman is #2 with 9), #1 in the SEC with a 2.16 ERA (Gausman is #8 with 2.86), #6 in the SEC with a .210 opposing batting avg (Gausman is #9 with .229), and #2 in the SEC with 115 batters struck out (Gausman is #1 with 118). he's a junior, so this might not be the last time LSU faces him
and after 1 inning, Stratton has already struck out 3 LSU batters (Katz, Moore, Dozar). the good news is that Rhymes hit a single off of him
quotes from yesterday: "We're coming here to win this tournament, that's our goal right now," senior shortstop Austin Nola said emphatically after Tuesday's practice at Samford University's baseball field in Birmingham, Alabama. Kevin Gausman said: "We don't just want to win the SEC outright but to win the SEC Tournament, too."
he struck out 2 more LSU batters in the 2nd inning (Edward, Hanover) As for Nola, he went 2 innings, and knocked them down 1-2-3 in each one, and had 3 strike outs
Coach PM's "musical pitcher's mound" not working out so well so far. Nola went two scoreless, then Bonvillain came in and gave up 2 runs in the third. Now Berry's in to hopefully get us out of the inning. 2-0 Bulldogs.
Bonvillain gets pulled, Berry takes the mound with LSU down 0-2 and two runners on base now bases are loaded with 2 outs and Berry K's the MSU batter to get out of the inning!
Stratton adds another K in the 3rd (Katz). Rhymes hits him again! Rhymes is 2-for-2 against him so far. on Rhymes' hit, Jacoby Jones (who walked), tried to make it to 3rd, but he got thrown out for out #3 on a questionable call (they showed the replay 4 times and I still can't tell if he was safe or not). apparently the MSU center fielder has an awesome arm (MSU fans are informing us), and he made a hell of a throw to get Jones at 3rd
