Not sure what's that bad about his "hitch"?? Looks to me like he gets the ball out very quick (short throwing motion) while keeping a strong arm and accuracy. Throws well outside the pocket as well.

Welcome aboard Philip..err Stephen !! :thumb:

If the hitch works then I am all for it. Phillip still has it and they both learned it from their father who is a coach. BTW, his dad feels that Stephen could be better than Phillip. I hope he is right.

A lot of people think Ely is better than Rivers...But I heard LSU had Rivers higher on their board because Rivers was more likely to accept a greyshirt before reporting next year.

Still not that highly impressed, Ely is definitely more polished but Rivers probably has more upside, factor all that with Gary Crowton and I'll take Ely all day long and twice on sunday.

Bingo. I know I posted the pedigree pic, but he is a project and he has along way to go to live up to that pedigree. I don't have faith in Crowton to groom a prospect so I'll agree with you about Ely.

Seriously, I don't think Rivers will scare Ely off at all...After all isn't Florida the team we're worried about with Ely the most?

And doesn't Florida have a commitment from the No.1 quarterback prospect in the nation?

***This just in from left field***

But I like the pickup. The pedigree IS an important aspect. He knows football...and is coachable. Besides, who among us thinks Crowton will still be here by the time Rivers starts practice? Seriously. I'll say this...if he is, it will be because JJ and the offense improved dramatically...in which case, a lot of y'all will either have to eat some crow, or give all the credit to Gonzales.

Atleast with Rivers, he has a father and a brother who can coach him up, since Crowton won't be able to.
