They can't even pull in an 'ok name' in Ely. Shouldn't be a surprise LSU is struggling to reel in QBs w/ The Wizard on staff

Sounds like some other recruiter or coach got in Ely's head about LSU's offense last year or about the offensive coaching staff...maybe even that ridiculous Jamarkus Russell stuff.

Gonzales needs to double up on this guy.

Not this but he is still holding out hope for ND and UF and some are saying that UF may have offered. Clemson and Wake Forest are still in play as well according to TSD.

Some other sources are saying LSU is still in the picture.

Guess we will have to wait on an article for Ely to hash it out.

Crap!!!!!!! What changed in a matter of days? People must have been in his ear at the elite 11 camp. This is SO frustrating! Every year, we come in 2nd for some big name QB. I guess having 3 former number 1 receivers in the country isn't appealing to quarterbacks. I will never understand how a program as big as ours can dominate recruiting at every position except the quarterback while the USC's of the world sign a 5 star qb every year. Louisiana is too big of a state to not produce big time qbs. We have the whole state to ourself in recruiting and still can't get a quarterback. I'm sorry, i've just been getting really excited about this kid lately and have been talking him up to my friends and now I'm going to look like an idiot when he picks someone else.

No offense but if LSU was executing properly, you wouldn't be seeing comments like that on TD. If the kid isn't educated enough about the LSU program and their recent struggles, would you really want him on the team? Much less lets a message board sway his decision?

What do you think is going to happen when he gets to campus?

Recruits are not stupid. Even with LSU's struggle, they see opportunity here. LSU has one of the highest numbers of active players in the NFL, if not the highest. You have your answer right there. If a kid is questioning LSU's stability, I think its fair at this point but regardless, opportunity is still there for a major program that still has a ton of prestige.

I think LSU's play past couple years has actually hurt on a few guys. More than people know, IMO. I believe its on Robinson's mind right now and hes waiting to see how our season plays out. I have no problem with that at all because if LSU plays to their ability, then we have nothing to worry about.

And I'll just say it, I'm not a huge Miles/Crowton fan but while they're here, I will support them. Nothing wrong with being a little critical on your program, IMO. I want LSU to win...

Lastly, if any recruit is naive enough to let the Russell situation negative recruit them, then I don't know what to say. LSU developed him into the first pick in the draft and made him a very rich person. What he did beyond that, has nothing to do with LSU or its coaches. We're not the ones motivating him or coaching him to play on Sundays...

Well, I guarantee #112 in offense nationally doesn't help, and that is fact, not someones negative opinion. Depends on the angle of the prospective QB - maybe he thinks he can come in and turn it around, or maybe he thinks the program does not have an established, effective offensive scheme and he will be set up for failure.

Agree that message boards should not be influencing Ely directly, and if they are, maybe he is not the "smart" QB we are looking for or need.

Sure hope all of this is speculation and that the kid is still considering us seriously. We could sure use him, but there are other fish in the sea, if not.

There are 119 (or so) D1A football teams. There are 20 or 25 teams that have routinely bid for big bowl games and the national championship in the last ten or 15 years. This kid is from Florida, and therefore probably does not have childhood preferences towards purple and gold.

I don't understand why this is being blown out of proportion so much. Kids choose schools for all kinds of reasons.

Likewise, sometimes kids cool on a school and we find out later that it was the school that cooled on the kid (not saying that is the case here, but clearly that has been the case in recent seasons for some LSU recruits).

I do, however, share the general concern that LSU pickup a good pure QB in this class. Very disappointed Garrett didn't work out. Have been distracted and need to read more about why.

I'm not a fan of Crowton, what is your point? I said that above. That doesn't mean I'm going to avoid going to games just because I disagree with a coach.

I don't think message board ramble has anything to do with Ely's questioning. Its more the on field production by LSU the past two years. They've steadily got worse on offense since the NC. LSU was ok on offense when Lee was a starter, then by the second half of the season, they were terrible. Regained a little in the GT game, then took another step back last year. As I said, if LSU executed, nobody would be questioning him on TD or any other LSU site.

I'm kinda hoping ZL takes Football seriously because I think hes a stud. But I just don't know considering his career in Baseball and potential there. Everything I've read said he was actually a underrated Football prospect.
