Agreed, good pick-up. Good rotational player at a position we lack depth.

W/ Rodgers and Ellis in the middle of that line it should be hard to run up the middle on us next year.

Agreed. Hopefully we can get a good DE and LB via free agency or the draft to solidify the defense. I tend to like bigger, every down DE's rather than just the pass rush specialists. We still need to stop them from running sweeps. Rodgers will clog the middle and get some push, but at 350LB he isn't going to stop them from turning the corner.

The consensus feeling seems to be that we trade up a little for a DE, stay put for a DE, or trade down a little to get some other picks. Personally, I would like to see us stay where we are, pick Ingram, if available, then get a DE or LB in the 2nd round. Not saying its the "best" decision picking Ingram first, but I still would like to see him in a Saints uni. I know we could pick up a RB later or in FA, but still would like him.

i have been following this guys mock drafts for a few years now and he is usually pretty good. WalterFootball.com: 2011 NFL Mock Draft In the latest one he has the saints taking Bowers right where we are (no trades). What do you guys think, i know he was slipping cause of the combine/pro day/knee but i didn't think that far. To me if he is there it is a no brainer in the risk department.

looking at the guys they have getting taken #1 to #39, I could see us taking any of them if they are available with our current #24, except for 9 of them: the TE, the six QBs, and the bottom two CBs.

    note they have:
their #26 pick, DE/DT Heyward, possibly going at #18 or #24
their #28 pick, DE/OLB Houston, possibly going at #17 or #20
their #29 pick, OT Sherrod, possibly going at #22 or #23
their #30 pick, DT Taylor, possibly going at #21
their #32 pick, DE/OLB Reed, possibly going at #16 or #21
their #33 pick, RB Ingram, possibly going at #15
their #36 pick, OLB Ayers, possibly going at #19, #20, or #21
their #38 pick, DE/OLB Sheard, they say he "is late first-round talent"
their #39 pick, DE Clayborn, possibly going at #20 or #24
(as for DE Bowers, they don't have him possibly going anywhere higher than #24)

they also have us possibly trading up to #12 or #15 overall
