When did I ever say Miles was clueless. I dont think he is at all.
But 10-1 Miles looks at the player and holes he needs to fill NOT star rankings.
And no I am not saying following recruiting in pointless. Like you guys I follow this board daily during recruiting. What is pointless for me is that someone got 5 stars instead of 4 and being upset about it. For me personally it doesnt matter. Did we keep the kids in state we need. Check, did we fill our needs Check, did we get kids of great character and skill, Check... What Rivals thinks could care less. I am 100% times more interested in what you guys here and Bhelm have to say about our recruits than Rivals or ESPN....

My point is Texas and Florida for example have had the top 2 classes (along with Bama) the last several years. And they were horrible last year and they were stacked with 4 and 5 stars.

Tell me where Boise State or TCU or Stanford ranks the last 5 years in Rivals.
Heck even Arkansas who has beaten us 3 out of the last 4

My point is sure an Adrian or Patrick Peterson as a 5 star works out. BUt these are generally a guess.
I can go down the list of all our 5 stars and the majority of them amount to little as the 3 stars (Which I contend is simply a guess) shine or 4 or even two (Hester, Josh Reed)

No I dont think Miles is clueless at all, I am willing to bet Miles is like me and puts little to NO value to how rivals (Who will ALWAYS make sure Bama is the highest due to their bias for Bama) ranks our class

No Miles I bet looks at
    1. Position of Need
    2. Character
    3. Speed and Size
    4. Intangibles - Can you coach em up
    ......
    ...
    101. How many stars Rivals gave them

Its nice for us fans to argue over "recruiting classes" but at the end of the day being #1 (See Texas) does NOT translate to National TItles.

This kid here on this thread is what I am interested. WE NEED a LB, seems to be full of talent, seems to be a kid of character. Dont care he has 5 stars. I think he is a text book example of a kid I would love to have at LSU.
Looks like we are a long shot but none the less I am following this.

Lastly I NEVER get excited anymore about "Verbal Commits" I have seen WAY to many times (That idiot who went to Tenn for example) last minute we lose someone.
So I get excited when the fax (If they still do that) comes in. Until then its just discussion points for me.

All I care about is the above...

    Good points (IMHO.)

You can't really put a star on human potential and heart. I'd take Jacob Hester or Drew Brees on my team any day and I'm sure they didn't star out well.

My philosophy would be to play them in checkers and beat them if possible, and pick the ones who throw the checker board across the room. It's hard to beat someone who HATES to loose.

FYI, he just said in a article that he will have a pretty good idea where he is going in a few days and not sure if he'll even visit LSU. Doesn't sound like he is going to end up here. He won't announce until NSD though. If we get him on campus, hopefully we land him. Maybe he was just telling the writer what he wanted to hear.

I'll be surprised if he doesn't visit LSU next weekend.

Man I hope someone is putting in some good work with him. As has been stated continuously in every CJ thread, I have no earthly idea why he would choose Miss State or Ole Miss.

Surely someone can get in his ear and explain to him the opportunities that he will be passing up. Who wants to play for a team with a 2010 record of 4-8, a stadium only 2/3 the size of Death Valley, with a coach who will be fired within the next 2 years, or for a team that hasn't won an SEC title since 1963 ( Ole Miss ) or 1941 ( Miss State ) and won't for the forseeable future?

Miss State has only been to 2 bowls in the last decade!!! How are top notch players even considering them?

LSU offers everything that a player in his position and with his talent could want. Ole Miss offers being a little bit closer to home and a chance to be a big fish in a very small and muddy pond.

I really hope his intelligence outweighs whatever other factors might be swaying him towards Ole Miss and MSU.

I can understand MSU because they have an intelligent head coach who has that team playing solid ball and the future is looking up.

But Houston Nutt and Ole Miss? That place is a zoo and will always be as long as Nutt is there.
