Frankly i have never seen any high school that schedules out of state teams lik evangel. Evangel has shown and still does show that they will play nayone anywhere. In my opinion its the best program in the state year i year out.

The Monroe teams all schedule game with Texas and Arkansas teams. I recall in 1999 that WMHS beat the Mississipi and Texas state champs. The schools that are good every year have to find out of state teams to play them because no one else wants to.

you would'nt be talking about the same monroe team that got tried of getting beat bye evangel. they are the reason evangel has to play in 1A ....:cry:

Evangel’s defensive line coach pointed out LSU, Texas, Alabama, USC, Florida State and Georgia as Rasco’s top schools right now, with LSU, Texas and Alabama being the three schools he’s paying the most attention to.
“He’s been to all three of those schools several times,” said Dawson. “He’s been to Texas the most, followed by LSU and Alabama as far as visits.”
Although Dawson won’t steer Rasco in any particular direction, LSU may have a slight advantage in the fact that Dawson played defensive tackle for LSU from 1998-2002. He started 14 games and made 86 tackles and four sacks during his stint in Purple and Gold.
“I played down there, so if he’s got any questions about the day-to-day living in Baton Rouge and the school, that’s something that I can help him with,” said Dawson. “The facilities and the campus are second to none.”
The former Tiger said Rasco’s decision will ultimately come down to where he feels there is a good fit for him to play early, but Dawson admitted there is a lot of local encouragement for him to stay in-state.
“It’s the state school, so it always works in the favor of a kid with state pride, and the fans and everybody wants you to stay and play for the state school,” said Dawson.
Dawson said the Evangel defensive end is likely being looked at as an outside linebacker by Texas and Alabama, while he feels Les Miles likes the idea of keeping the four-star at end.
“He’s so athletic and fast. He’s the type of guy that can play any position on the field. He’s strong and powerful enough to play nose tackle, but he’s athletic enough to play wide receiver,” said Dawson. “A lot of people like him as that outside linebacker in a 3-4. Some people just like him as that 4-3 rush end.”
Dawson said Rasco has no position preference at the collegiate level as long as he’s rushing the passer.
“He’s just wants to play,” said Dawson. “He just wants to help the team, but he loves getting after the quarterback.”

Les was at Evangel tonight checking out Rasco. He had a few tackles/sacks behind the LOS, and a fumble recovery for a TD.

Seems like it is down to LSU and FSU at this time.

Says he wants to play DE. Bama and Texas are trying to sell him on rush LB.

Think he just liked his visits. I don't know of any personal connections. I am sure his coach Dawson knows Jimbo pretty well though.

So does the injury to Sam Montgomery work in our favor at all here? Don't get me wrong, I want to see Montgomery back at 100% yesterday.

But I can't help but think that might be an opportunity for Rasco to possibly get some significant, early playing time while Montgomery rehabs should Rasco decide to come to LSU.
