re: 2010 ATH Jarrett Fobbs (LOI) Can't say I am surprised. Never got a good vibe on our chances with the way the WR recruiting has been shaking out this year.
re: 2010 ATH Jarrett Fobbs (LOI) Oh well, would rather him commit to a school we will never see or play.
re: 2010 ATH Jarrett Fobbs (LOI) Well. We schedule a couple of cupcakes every year. aTm may get to Tiger Stadium for an azz whoopin'.
re: 2010 ATH Jarrett Fobbs (LOI) I've seen Jarrett Fobbs play for three years now and he's a heck of a player and very versatile athlete. He can and does play QB, RB, WR, DB and KR. Jerry Byrd, Jr. is the HHS head coach now and is a good coach. However, when former coach Mike Greene was terminated it was an ugly situation at HHS and I don't think they've quite recovered from that whole debacle. I keep hearing from folks around the area that LSU wants him as a DB and KR but he wants to play offense. We shall see how this plays out. I hope he doesn't wait too long because LSU has a limited number of schollies to offer and he could get left out if he doesn't take the LSU offer soon.
re: 2010 ATH Jarrett Fobbs (LOI) Ok, just read where Fobbs committed to A&M last night. Knowing how good of friends Jarrett is with Jonathon Stewart who signed with A&M, it wouldn't surprise me at all if this is true. They likely promised him the chance to play WR and RB. Plus he has a good friend already in College Station. That being said, this bothers me a great deal. I don't like A&M coming into Shreveport and taking 4-star players out of state.
re: 2010 ATH Jarrett Fobbs (LOI) We weren't going to take him unless he wanted to play defense.. even then -- maybe not. Besides.. our staff doesn't go by rivals rankings or stars. We're not Miami :hihi:
re: 2010 ATH Jarrett Fobbs (LOI) jarrett is legit and deserves his 4 stars i hate he is leaving the state....and we would have taken him regardless had he committed to us
re: 2010 ATH Jarrett Fobbs (LOI) Doubtful that we would have taken him. He's a good player by all means.. but it seems common knowledge that he wanted to play RB in college. He's not an SEC caliber talent at RB either. Defensively on the other hand.. I think we would have tried him out at CB. Not just saying that because he went to a&m either. Hurd (and maybe Carter) is better at CB and I think he'll be a Tiger by the end of the month. I wish him the best of luck.. and wish he was a part of the class.. but I can't fault him for wanting to play a specific position.
re: 2010 ATH Jarrett Fobbs (LOI) Fobbs is going to be a good college player and I hope he does well wherever he goes. Fwiw, I talked to a guy (who I would say is a pretty good reference on him, I don't want to post who it was but if neccesary will PM it to bhelm or bmy for validation) that said he expected him to get offers from Tech, Northwestern and probably some lower tier D1 schools...specifically he did not think there would be an offer from LSU. This was probably back in January.
re: 2010 ATH Jarrett Fobbs (LOI) Question for those in the Shreveport area who have seen them both play, who do you think is better between Fobbs and Morris Claiborne? Just based on highlight videos, I give Claiborne the slight edge (though I realize we don't have Senior video on Fobbs yet). I like Fobbs a lot and he's definitely LSU caliber, but I really like Claiborne. He's taller, very elusive as well, and won the State Championship in the 100m.
