OKC is going to win this series. They are too physical for Dallas. Dallas has a reputation for being soft for a reason. Westbrook is going to eat Jason Kidd alive with his athleticism. It's going to be one of those "new era" type deals where the young Westbrook establishes his dominance over the 38 year old Jason Kidd marking the ending of one era and the beginning of another (see Iverson's cross-over on Jordan a while back). That's my 2 cents on that series. I have no idea who will win the Bulls/Heat series, but I'll have a better idea after Game 2.
Well... That didn't go as planned. OKC is T-I-R-E-D, think memphis may have taken it all out of them. Oh and Dallas is pretty darn good.
Is there any way for me to redact this post? Wow. Dirk went apesh*t last night. I mean he was unstoppable. He was poppin bank shots in people's faces and just couldn't miss. I heard this morning that (including free throws) the ball left his hand 40 times last night....he missed 3. THAT is incredible.
Last week Carlisle got a lot of grief for proclaiming Dirk a top 10 all-time NBA player. Last night, the announcers agreed he was in the top 30 range. If the Mavs win it all this year, Dirk would likely be the finals MVP. He has the type of game and size to play for many more years at a high level. If he's able to add some hardware to the career figures he will likely end up with, he could get into the top 10. Other than maybe Nash for a few years, he also hasn't had a legit wingman. Competing in the West against the Spurs & Lakers dynasties over the past decade has obviously held him back. If he stays healthy, I could see him at 40 yrs old still scoring 20 pts/game.
Bam!!!!! Dirk is the best offensive player in the NBA. At times last night, thought I was watching Larry Bird. A 1 footed fade away bank shot??? Are you kidding me?? Credit the Thunder for going all Rudy and never giving up. However........ Deep in her heart......... The Thunder folds.............
OKC needs Westbrook to shoot less. Run the offense, play defense He couldn't shot in Game 7 and ended up with a triple double and Durant exploded.
that was Dirk's best game in the last 5 years, while it was one of Westbrook's worst games of the season. Dirk won't be as good the rest of the series, and Westbrook won't be as bad Dallas had that extra week to rest/prepare, but five of their top six guys are aged 32 to 37 years old, while OKC's top four guys are all aged 21-22 years old. that's an 11+ year age difference it'll be interesting to see how the rest of the series unfolds between the old veterans and the young bucks
Dirk's awesome. another awesome thing the Mavs have going for them is their 3-pt game. both Dirk and Terry are having two of the best performances from the 3-pt line in Playoffs history Best 3PT% in NBA Playoffs history (min 20 att) .650 (13-of-20) - 2008 Playoffs - Raja Bell, Phoenix Suns .625 (15-of-24) - 1993 Playoffs - John Paxson, Chicago Bulls (NBA Champs) .617 (29-of-47) - 2003 Playoffs - Derek Fisher, L.A.
