Correct me if Im wrong someone, but as far as Ford at running back a 4.59 isnt really blazing speed. However, he is just a junior and his time could improve at least by 1 second between now and next year?

    Im I crazy?

Ford won state in the 100 meter, I believe. He's fast, but he doesn't have a real quick first step.

His forty time is not great, but it is better than a 4.59 and can improve.

Enough said, if he won the 100, he definitely has some speed. But that first step counts for alot in football.

Here is something to consider about why a first step or quick start for a RB wouldn't be that important. In track or when you run a timed 40 you explode out of the blocks as fast as you can while keeping low and using correct form. In football you can't go as hard as you can when the ball is snapped. You usually take a handoff or a pitch and have to secure the ball, then you read your blockers, even at times setting them up, (which is another word for waiting on them) before accelerating through the hole or around the end. My point is that a RB doesn't turn on the jets from the start, but after he has taken a few steps and gains momentum. A tailback usually positions himself about 7 yards deep from the line of scrimmage and most don't turn on the jets until they hit the line, if there is a big hole, or they are through the line. Hopefully, if we get this guy he will play faster than that 40 time because he is a 100 meter sprinter. :yelwink2:

Maybe you meant to say it could improve by a 10th of a second.
