The morning after review for Jr. It ain't pretty. :nope: This dude puts the hammer to the now 10 year veteran and literally slits his throat for exhibition. http://sports.yahoo.com/nascar/news...YcB?slug=dw-daytona021509&prov=yhoo&type=lgns There is a lot to this story, much for which I agree but then again there is some knife throwing, much like the dude lost a wad of dough on Jr. and has himself a hissy fit. I am not the part of Jr. nation one consumes themselves with the likes of an all being. I like a lot of guys on the track, particularly the little guys that show talent and promise. I feel Jr. has both with a fairly winning personality however he is forced to be the poster boy and placed into a position of over expectations from a fan base blood thirsty of yester-year. Way too much for a type of closet personality built on his daddies shoulders. Now he has to carry the load of both and I just don't think he has that kind of ability, certainly to be as successful as are his expectations. I like the dude but I am not a fan. I think his integrity is misrepresented in this article. I also believe he is less then thrilled to have to carry his namesakes torch. Harsh words after only one race however at the end of this season, if Jr. is not legitimately competing for the championship, this article will be truer then not.
Don't have time to read the article, so I won't make a whole lot of comments. But I will agree with that first quote you gave....Jr.'s always got an excuse for why something involving him was someone else's fault.
I fired off an email to FOX Sports this morning, essentially saying that I love their coverage, except.....too bleeping many gopher graphics.
I didn't read the article either but I saw the after race interveiw with him. What I heard was...NASCAR's rule about the front tires outside of box stupid and rule needs to be changed, missed pit box because everybodys flag is pink and if he changes it to blue then everybody changes theirs to blue. Vickers ran his back bumper into Jr.'s front bumper, THEN...he finishes it up with but bottom line everything was his fault... Huh, it was a stupid rules fault, it was the flags fault, it was Vickers fault, but it was all your fault???? I don't know about you but I had to giggle about that one! I love me some NASCAR!!!
Jr will never live up to the hype. I like him but he isnt a pimple on his daddy's butt. Sr would have driven circles around him in his prime. Jr is the most popular driver because of his name. Sure he has a good personality but how do you live up to being compared with Dale Earnhardt Sr? Nobody can.
The only chance Jr has of winning a Cup Championship is when he gets into his "later years". Maybe then will he stop and look in the mirror and realize that its "imaturity" (for lack of a better word). I just watched the DVR of the crash, bottom line, he dumped Vickers.
I agree that Jr hit Vickers, but why did Vickers keep the block going and forced Jr so low? Jr was below the line so he could not advance his position anyway. If he had, NASCAR would have black flagged him. Vickers purposely tried to grass Jr.
Because they were racing...also weren't Vickers and Jr a lap behind, if Vickers lets Jr pass and there is a caution, Jr gets the lucky dog and Vickers was protecting that. I don't know, I really don't like either of them but it seems to me that Jr tends to get in trouble because of hand jerk reactions on the track. He didn't want to lose a postion so instead of safely re entering the race he just flies back up on the track, in doing so took out Vickers and people that weren't suppose to be involved in the incident. Just my opinion...
When Jr made the move, he caught Vickers on the way down. You can see Vickers wiggle when he went down to block. Vickers was trying to keep his block going and maintain control at the same time. Jr just got frustrated and dumped him because they all knew the rain was coming and he had to get back on the lead lap so he could move up the field.
