I cant believe they called the race  btw...I dont blame DEJ for that accident. seriously think he was just trying to move back on the track ASAP Anyway, no reason to try to block a race car thats not on the lead lap in the 1st place.
If Jr. takes the blame, do you still think it was not his fault? I think these rainy Daytona's of the last few years are a direct result of the late starts. Why now they want the 500 to finish under the lights is beyond me. It always seems to be a late threat for rain. Was not but just a few years ago, this race would have finished already. Cannot blame the rain for coming but in Daytona, rain always seems to come late.
Good call! :thumb: They start this race at the old time and it finishes under green. Ripped the fans from what should have been a killer finish. Sucks to end the 500 like that.
I'll be honest. I love cars and i love racing (particularly fond of euro hatchback rally and trophy truck rally races) but i have never been able to get into nascar. Every D500 I tell myself "I'm gonna watch the whole race and this will finally be the year i become a nascar fan" So I turn it on, i'm guessing it was about 15 minutes after the start of the race.... ...and then i decide it's time to check the oil in my truck. Maybe next year...
I agree with this but to be honest, today was bad luck, we haven't had a "rain strom" in a month, he have had sprinkles maybe twice in the last 30 days but that has been it. But you are right, if rain comes in this area of Florida it usually comes in the last afternoon/early evening so why take a chance of getting it screwed up. But overall it was a decent race while it lasted...a lot of three wide racing which is always exciting, at least to me!
