We didn't win a conference championship. We shared a division title w/ Ole Miss. Then 2 and out in the conference tourney (for a second year in a row). Overall, 4 losses in 6 postseason games...w/ the 2 wins coming over such powerhouses as Marist
    and NSU.

W/ the money Skip puts out there for a bid on one of those things, if you think thatwasn't coming, then you've got your head in the sand.

This team wasn't a #1 seed...if you were honest w/ yourself, you could admit it. This program is riding those 5 NCs right now. But that can't last much longer.

Not even sure what that was...#14? For this program, that's mediocrity. Anyway, what do the polls mean? Baseball decides it's championship on the field.

Silly statement, considering that Saban had already won HIS championship. Guys like Saban set the standards for excellence...guys like Laval let them deteriorate.

As I said on another thread.. The fact of the matter is that LSU is now the #2 program in the state, with 2 others nipping at our heels.. its time for a change. If there is someone with ties in California or Texas that can help recruiting, I'd look in those states...

If Tulane makes it to the CWS and wins some games then maybe....but until they do, I really do laugh at the thought that they have somehow passed LSU in baseball.

Tulane has done jack **** nationally in college baseball.

Anyone who believes this team has "underperformed" by Tiger standards is living in a fantasy world where "our" team is expected to beat the hell out of every opponent in every game - and cruise to a national championship every year. The facts above don't lie.

    1. The overall results over Skip's last 4 years and Smoke's first 4 years are amazingly similar.
    2. In fact, if you exclude 2000's post-season results (when we had a special team and a situation where EVERYTHING happened to come together just at the right time), Smoke's results are better in nearly every category.
    3. ANYONE who really REMEMBERS "the good ole days", will recall the same frustrations and disbelief at times during Skip's tenure that we have all experienced on occasion these last few seasons when things don't go perfectly... (yes, they booted simple plays, missed bunts, made base-running mistakes and threw to the wrong base on occasion also!)
    4. Everyone seems to agree that the overall talent level and competition across the SEC has increased tremendously over the past 10 years -- and YET, our Tigers continue to perform at the same level year in and year out.
    5. Yes, Smoke's coaching style and personality are COMPLETELY different than Skip's -- but the results don't seem to be significantly different in this much more competitive environment that we have to deal with every year.
    6. Most teams have 1 or 2 good years followed by a few "rebuilding" years. In our case, our "down" years are determined by missing a trip to the Super Regional or CWS -- I'll take that ANY DAY. A rebuilding year simply means that we don't run the tables in the post-season.

Naturally, everyone has a right to their own interpretation of each situation and their own opinion. But as a logical person (who also lets his emotions and desire to win every game cloud his view of reality from time to time), a non-emotional analysis of the facts makes me very happy to be a Tiger FAN -- and extremely excited about the future of our baseball program. Hell, the last time we won fewer than 42 games, we came back and won the CWS the next year. Only time will tell what happens this time.

    GO TIGERS!!! :tigbas:

Fine. And next year, when we fail to even make the SEC tournament, you can come back and tell me once again how I should be patient because Smoke is going to pull it all together. Fair enough?
