Unless you can be specific, that is no reason to complain next year. A broad statement like that is nothing but hedging your bets so you can reserve justification to bitch about anything you see fit at the time next year.

Miles gives me that impression too, and I would have been concerned except that the guy running the offense and defense are extremely good tacticians...so no worries there.

Pelini runs both zone and man to man, depending on the situation. He does blitz, but he does not blitz to the point of leaving the defense vulnerable...ie he'll do it when the situation dictates it, but won't rely on it as the only means to get pressure on the QB.

His zone defense at NU was a similar cover 2 as what Tampa Bay runs. With a significant pass rush, you see how that defense can absolutely dominate because it gets pressure on the QB while having a 2 deep zone to eyeball and prey on any rushed passes. If the passes are completed short, the LBs and DBs fly to the ball and make the tackle...his NU defenses were really good ball hawkers. They swarmed, tackled, and caused fumbles.

I like the excitement of blitzes, but truth be told, I much prefer a solid rush with sound coverage to keep teams from scoring. IMO, in the SEC, his scheme will be very effective.

I am pleased with this coaching staff and I think from a resume standpoint, this staff is much better that what Saban put together in his first year. But I will say this, if we start out 1-2, I will not be pleased one goddamned bit. Not with the coaches, not with the players. I reserve the right to call out coaches for bone-headed decisions, no matter how great their resume is. I do not expect this staff will be doing anything bone-headed, but I thought Dinardo was the answer at one time, then he hired Tepper and all hell broke loose.

I don't think that you will find anybody who has a bad word to say about this staff.

It's outstanding, considering that Wayne High-Zinger waited to go after Saban until LSU was about the last big school looking for a new coaching staff.

Yea, huge mistakes are fair game...mainly I was wanting to be able to ridicule those who invariably try to say they 'knew it'. Saying 'man what a huge mistake with clock management' is fair game...rather than the bone-heads who will say 'man, I KNEW Miles was going to be a douche-bag. I told you he would mess everything up, did you see that clock management???'

I'll say this about the staff, I am totally dissapointed that not one member of last years defensive staff was hired. I'll also add this, and I hope I'm wrong, but if there is a weakness next year I believe it's gonna be our defense. What these guys are gonna have to understand is that this is not the mediocre Big XII, it's the SEC! Every game is a war and we can't afford to have a lackluster defensive scheme. I'm still saying 4 losses next year.

I'm pretty sure "Stump" Collins didn't go with Saban, although I could be wrong.

Hell I think I could coach this year's LSU team with all our talent and have pretty good success..........................but to answer the forum question. I'm happy---I think we have a great staff and I, too, hope Jimbo will open it up a bit. We're freaking loaded.........................

In a perfect world, I would love to see some more SEC flavor in terms of experience, but what can you do?

From a recruiting standpoint, this is a choice staff that charges hard and knows how to beat the streets to attract talent.

Maybe I'm too much of an idealist, but I get the impression that this is a "get on board" staff. Coaches got on board with more than a staff - they are punching their tickets for a vision, a state of mind, a mentality, and the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something very special. The former staff built a stage and this staff is coming to dance...

Coach Miles certainly used his coaching network during the interview process, but I appreciate the fact that he did not "hook up" any of his old buddies or anyone else because he may have "owed" them a favor. It appears to me that, top to bottom, this staff was hired on their merit and their qualifications.

I would have loved to see Dave Campo as DC, but I'll deal with it as long as these kids are prepared to play tough defense in the Fall.

I'm most excited about Auburn retaining the services of one Tommy Tuberville - AU giving TT an extension is the best LSU coaching move of the year...

The mediocre Big XII, which since the year 2000 has had a team from its "mediocre" conference participate in the BCS National Championship game in 2000 (Which it won), in 2002, in 2003, and then again for good measure in 2004...More than half a dozen BCS Bowl game berths...

4 losses...What a true fan...I tell you what...Go crawl back under the hole you oscillated out from...We don't need "fans" like you...Trust me...
