You are right. Shockley has been inconsistent. Richt has talked about adjusting the offense around him and A. J. Bryant. A.J. Bryant is the biggest sleeper on the team.
The QB situation at LSU was never really fully resolved this year. Same with Tennessee. I wasn't sure why Flynn was played so much when LSU was behind in the CapOne. I wondered if Flynn might be thinking about going elsewhere and talked with Saban about it. Saban probably gave him the chance to be able to test the water. If Mauck had stayed, you really have to wonder about how the LSU-Auburn game would have turned out this year.
I don't know if I'm the only one that caught this, but is "Calvin Booker" not one of the greatest sounding football names in a long time? Almost as good as my man "Na'il Diggs."
Shockley is going to be a terrible QB. He looks at one WR and forces it every time. When he doesn't he can't scramble well. He always seems to scramble where someone else is....and thus loses 10+ yards...remember the Tech game where he lost like 20 something yards? He always holds the ball with his hand stretched out.....He doesn't know when to throw it away... The list goes on.... Chip, I like UGA....Shockley sucks.
Booker is a stud out of Mays HS here in Atlanta. He’s a 6’-4”, 215 lbs, 4.7 “athlete” that those of us here in ATL have had the pleasure of watching for awhile. His arm is very strong and he throws the long ball with precision – pinpoint precision. He’s not terribly fast, but he’s difficult to bring down with anything less than solid tackling fundamentals. The big questions on CB are his ability to learn the WCO and his lack of college experience….. most of the spare game snaps this season went to Brandon Cox. Prior to the spring game he thrilled the crowd with throw after throw of 50-55 yards to several players slanting across the endzone. (In street clothes – he’s now a redshirt freshman) He throws a beautiful, powerful ball. It remains to be seen if he can do it under fire, but he was special while at Mays.
AU's D was the surprise to me more than anything, not Borges. Although, I do think the offensive production kept a lot of the heat off the new guys. Next year, I think its a very different story. It will be much closer to how I expected this year once time of possession drops and you're often playing from behind. I understand the experience part but trust me, we had better people in place this year and it took even more time to gel because we lost our leaders on offense. LSU should be a bit ahead of the West but due to the inconsistencies at QB and new cooaching philosophies, there are a few questions yet to be answered.
