The only point that I would disagree with is the home and home effecting our schedule to where we have to play these crappy teams. We schedule Ark St early for a cupcake game, not because we had too. They Mid level teams for the most part are trying to get plenty of dough and many of them would come to LSU for a one game deal when set in advance. they're are simply not enough big time programs that are willing to do any kind of home and home or 2 for 1 or even 3 for 1 deals with them. They get so much more money when they come to a place like LSU, Mich., Tenn., etc. that they need to schedule teams like us. We never had to go that low IMO.
Exactly. You could at least get teams with some name recognition. That's why I was fine with Houston. I know they'd been down of late, but they are improving. Not to mention, they were a major player in the old SWC, won a few Cotton Bowls, and had a Heisman winner in Ware. They have some history there. I think we should at least schedule teams in a BCS conference, even if they're not in the top tier of their conference. Some of the teams I can think of who would probably not demand a return match would be Indiana (Dinardo homecoming), Kansas, Virginia, Baylor, Cal, Duke...I'm sure there are others. If not BCS, then go to the C-USA, MAC, etc. I know people will argue that it is hard to find matchups at such a late date, but UH made it happen with OU and got a home game with Miami to boot. Don't know if it actually had any truth to it, but the Syracuse thing would have been great.
UH didn't make anything happen, they weren't looking, OU was. OU made it happen by offering UH more money I would bet and then by offering to play LSU home and home in the future, which they will probably back out on. This whole thing stinks if you ask me. We should have just asked UH to honor their contract with us.
