heard he has put over 100 guys in the NFL over his tenure and currently everyone on his starting defense has scored a touchdown???? jeez, is that possible?

Over the last decade, a player at every position on Tech's defensive unit has produced at least one touchdown and 24 different players have scored touchdowns while playing on Tech's special teams. The defense and special teams have combined for 88 touchdowns since Beamer arrived in 1987.

Beamer has averaged nine victories a year over the last 11 seasons and finished the 2003 season -- his 17th season in Blacksburg -- with a 125-74-2 record. The winningest football coach in Tech history with 11 consecutive bowl appearances and three Big East titles, Beamer was the consensus National Coach of the Year in 1999.


Va Tech (101) and Miami (105) won more games than any other Big East team since the start of the 1993 season.

I don't know why any of the guys here whould want Beamer. He always puts thugs on the field and has issue with behavior. He puts a good defence on the field but only has had success at offense if he had a freak like Vick playing QB.

I've never really cared for him. He might be a good person but the issues on his teams bother me and I wouldn't want him here.

Look at the comments in this thread about Beamer, and then compare them to the "thug/Beamer ball" comments from some this year.

While I'll agree he's had some players do some pretty bad things on the field, I don't think it comes back to Beamer as much as it comes back to who those players were, the way they were raised, etc.

Consider, you had the second Vick stomping players legs in a game...and his older brother definitely isn't the bastion of integrity, is he?

No thanks, on Beamer, and as a VT Alum, with all that has happened no way he is leaving.

Did either of the Vick's have character issues coming out of high school? I can't answer that. We've all seen players get into things that just shocked us. I could list a lot of names.

His teams play tough ball, no doubt. It's a contact sport, after all.
