The article was a good read but it sounded like he was trying to placate all fans in most of the SEC conference. Without a doubt the SEC is going to be the dominant conference and I believe it will go down to LSU/UGA for the SEC title. ( I must be one of the "delusional" fans spoken of in another post.) With our OL and RB's this team is gonna be better than ANY of the "sports writers" predictions. :yelwink2:

    Thanks SabanFan

I've been reading this board ever since the BCS controversy started. That story just prompted me to post.

It's mostly the fact that I'm just amazed at the disrespect Travis Daniels is getting in the preseason media. I assume every college football fan(maybe except the USC faithful  ) watched the Sugar Bowl and saw what Daniels is capable of. Maybe disrespect is too strong of a word, maybe he's just overlooked b/c of Corey Webster, who knows? If they wanted to put a Bama defensive guy on the first team, either of their linebackers would have been a better choice as opposed to Peprah, whom Michael Clayton took to school last year.

BTW, during the BCS controversy the guru on this board (isistl I think is his handle) made me look like a genius in front of my friends. I was the only one amongst our group cursing OU losing the Big XII title game because of his posts.

Travis Daniels is THE MAN, I hope he "flys" under all the opposing coaches radar this season. Looking back at video he is one hell of an athlete, another playmaker to add to the teams list of playmakers.

I think common sense would tell most anyone Cadillac is the best back in the conference due to his strength yet exceptional speed. JV is good in his own right but he doesnt have the speed as Caddy nor would he go as a top 5 pick but thats not saying he wont. JV will just have to prove he is this year now that defenses will gear to stop him and him alone til the passing game develops.

If he was relied on as much as Cadillac, his season yardage would have been higher, but I would bet his YPC would drop. Its easy to point to stats, but you have to remember that EVERYONE knew what Auburn was going to do. Give it to Caddy, give it to Ronnie, watch Ben "Butterfingers" Obomanu drop the ball- rinse, repeat. They didnt have nearly as much offensive balance as we did, and JV was running behind a much better O-line. The AU offense was in a bad place last year, and he still rushed for 1300 yards. CW is a special kind of back that doesnt come around too often. Dont get me wrong, though, I think JV is too; I am just not ready to proclaim him best in the league just yet.

yeah that was my point, they will be lined up to stop JV just as they did caddy last year. I guess that means skyler for more yardage and bigger plays if we can get the run established. Im chomping at the bit to see ED and XC as well. Not to mention the newbies on the defensive front.

I'll give Caddy respect just because of how much our D respected him last year and the things they said about him. They get to watch a lot more tape then we do and they also get to try and tavckle him, which thankfully none of us have to do. And they all siad he was the best they faced last season. But I also have to give JV kudo's on what he did so young. If he improves at a gradual rate he will become one of the best backs in SEC history if he also stays healthy. I can't wait to see him mature and pile up the yards.

And with regards to Daniels, the media doesn't give him much love because he hasn't had the interceptions. Some guys could give up 15 TD in a season but make 8 int's and become an All American. TD is the best cover corner in the SEC and maybe in the country so he will not get quite as many balls thrown his way. Webster on the other hand doesn't blanket his guy quite as well but as incredible make up speed and WR ability in going after a ball so he gets many more int's. They're both great, just different technique's and Corey gets more pub because of the picks.

WRONG WRONG WRONG. Better wake up and see CW leaves the extra room so he can bait the QB into throwing which leads to his INTS. TD is not near as polished and is prone to give up the big plays based on his lesser experience. heh, just my opinion.

Agreed. T Daniels should be gettin more love, but I believe one poster prolly stated it correctly when he said that some of these publications try to placate every team in an effort to maximize subscribers.

On the Cadillac Williams debate....... JMO, and taking nothing away from JV, but if you were to swap the two so that JV were running behind AU's O-line and Caddy behind LSU's O-line, it wouldn't even be a disussion, let alone a debate. Hand's down it would be Cadillac Williams. :thumb:

Travis Daniels doesn't get the respect he deserves from the media because they first and foremost look at INT totals not passes defended. Last year, Webster and Daniels were one-two in that category. Once he latches on to a few more picks he'll get the pub.

JV is great and I'm glad that he's first team, but I have to give the nod to Cadillac overall.
