scheduling isnt so important in basketball as it is in football. do well enough in the sec, and you are in the big dance. its nice to see some big names on the non conference schedule occasionally, but no big deal. playing florida and kentucky and the like will give us plenty of chance to prove our worth. i wouldnt worry about it.
Whether the other SEC coaches like Brady or not is irrelevent. The SEC schedule is set in stone. Two games against each Western Division opponent and one game against each Eastern Division opponent. Win in the SEC and you go to the Big Dance. Lose and you don't.
Again "T" (which stands for turd that knows nothing about basketball) is trying to add his superb knowledge to this forum about LSU basketball... coaches not liking him.. oooooh... the big scary bear... oooooohhhhh.. we should be real really worried about that... I can't sleep at night because the pompus prick Mark Gotfried doesn't like our coach..I hope they hate his guts!!!!!!! This isn't a popularity contest last I checked. In regards to our schedule, it will not be called cupcake by January. Our RPI will be good because our preseason schedule is average which is all we need. While I would love to play better teams also, that will come in time and it is not because coaches don't like Brady, it is because they don't like to get beat. I am proud of our team and our coach. Did anyone notice how hard he worked on the sidelines last night? Was he constantly teaching??? Was he working hard for his players???? How many times did he jump a ref for a potential 5 second call???? I counted at least 8 times... Larry Conley was very impressed with our quickness and our defensive efforts. ESPN finished the clip this morning with OUR coach fist pumping not because of himself but because of a play that one of OUR players did. The man thrives to win...... have fun this year T berating our coach... you and your T posse go find another pot to " p_ _ _" in.
Here's some good FACTS: this is the second year Brady's team is not on probation. In the one season after LSU's probation was lifted and still a team short on scholarship players (remember the NCAA would not award LSU a scholarship for losing Stromile Swift), he took the team to the NCAA tournament. This year, Brady has a full array of scholarships (minus scholarship players who quit--Tim Bush and Tony Gibson) and will have a good shot at winning the West. Not too bad. Add to the fact that LSU was the #1 recruiting team in the nation, landing pro-prospect Brandon Bass, North Carolina prep standout Regis Koundjia, Kentucky's Mr. Basketball Ross Neltner, and, as we saw last night, a good young point guard in Tack Minor. I think LSU basketball is on the way to being a more consistently good team than Dale Brown ever could have made them. John Brady is the answer. Geaux Tigers!
There are several young players on this team who remind me of past Tiger greats...Tack Minor reminds me a lot of Maurice Williamson, Brandon Bass looks like he has as much raw talent and physical ability as Big John Williams did, and I really believe that Regis Khoundjia is the second coming of Jerry "Ice" Reynolds...you remember him, don't you? The 6'-9" stud w/ the speed and ball handling skills to man the point when he wasn't dominating the low post? I see great things ahead for this basketball program. And that's good, because w/ Coach Saban bringing home a NC from New Orleans, Smoke bringing home a NC from Omaha this June, and Pat Henry bringing home more track titles, John Brady's gotta be feeling the heat.
Arizona and LSU played in Brady's 2nd year. That was the 1st of a 4 year home-away series, so keep trying to figure it out sabanfan. As far as this years team, there is no reason they should not win 2 games in the NCAA tourney. They have a very good senior big man(lloreda) and a good freshman power forward(bass). that alone makes for a good team, plus there are great athletes on the team. He needs to get on them about wasting timeouts. Mitchell wated one instead of having a jumpball and kunja wasted one hustling after the ball out of bounds(basically made his hustle pointless because it hurt more than helped). Wasting timeouts in the first half needs to be stopped. they were down to one timeout with around 5:00 to go. The team does need to work on free throws big time. One thing I really liked about Brady last night was when he immediately pulled and tore into Bass after he got hit then held onto his lip and turned his back to his man, then his man blew by him. that started the little run utah toward the end of the game. loreada started out doing that kind of stuff his first year but obviously he's tougher now, hopefully bass won't pull something like that again. Obviously I don't care how yall respond. When there is something good happining with basketball i say. when something bad is happening, i say it.
Dear Coach Brady, Please see the above from T. I thought it would be helpful for your next practice. Why can't you think of these things Coach? Why don't you get on them. Damn! Down to one timeout with 5 minutes left in the half and you were only up by 15. Those 2 wasted timeouts nearly cost us the game. And, what's up with those missed free throws? I've been wracking my brain trying to come up with a solution and "BAM", there it is from T. Work on free throws. Brilliant. Whether you want to do it "big time" is entirely up to you and your staff. Keep up the good work and I'll continue to provide assistance whenever possible.
Please someone take this guy out of his misery... wasting timeouts.. others say wasted scholarships.. I guess next is when we have to call a timeout and blood gets on the uniform when a player dives on the floor to get the ball we will have wasted a nice new uniform. I can hear Coach Brady now.. "Boys.. We have to quit hustling after balls because it is causing us to lose those timeouts.." Good fricking grief... The T posse is digging deep to find a needle in the haystack to knock our coach... It's killing them that Brady is going to be successful... It is pure fundamental basketball that we are playing... Good defense, blocking out, passing to the outside hand(bet you didn't notice that did you T), and giving everything they have on the court. Ever think that might be coaching "T"? I have watched LSU Basketball for over 30 years and have never seen an LSU basketball team play with as much defensive intensity as we are playing right now. Maybe not as smart yet as we are very young.. But I like the hustle they show.. That is coaching T posse... something you obviously have failed to recognize or will ever admit to.
