Nobody said "better". 14 is different....he was a juvenile. The law makes that distinction almost all the time across crimes. No reason this instance should be any different. It's why I vehemently disagree that if two underage people are having sex, while it may be against the law, the male shouldn't be required to register as sex offenders.
That's just it LaSalle....they didn't admit it, they rarely do admit it, even when they have been accused. And I'm talking fully grown adult offenders. In this instance, a 14-year old admitted it, took full responsibility for it, and is doing so again.
Consider this case from 2007....
"Ever since fliers calling 14-year-old Baron Brown-Lights a dangerous sex offender started to appear around his South Carolina neighborhood, he has stayed mostly inside his mother's house.
The teen was convicted last year in juvenile court of aggravated sexual assault for abusing his 4-year-old cousin. He avoided jail time, but was forced to register as a sex offender: His name, photograph, home address and school are posted online.
Baron is the state's youngest publicly registered sex offender and one of the youngest people on a sex crimes Web site nationwide. He can't go to public pools and must stay away from children under the age of 9. Certain jobs are off limits; he and his mother have had trouble finding an apartment, his mother told ABC News.....
Only a handful of states now require juvenile sex offenders to post their personal information online, and some allow teens to be taken off when they turn 18.
But the Adam Walsh Act, which states must implement by 2009, requires teens as young as 14 who are convicted of certain serious sex crimes to register for life.
The act is designed to target only dangerous sexual predators. "We're talking about teens who committed incredibly horrific sex crimes," said Laura Rogers, who heads the Department of Justice office that will implement the law."

So there's someone not named Duggar who did not serve time but is a registered offender. His life is ruined.....because of what he did at 14. Now what? He has a hard time getting a job, finding a home, all the things that put him into a high-risk category for re-offending. That is stupid and non-productive.
Better the devil you know than the one you don't. At this point, there is almost no chance he would do it again....the world is watching. There are offenders in your neighborhood right now that you don't know about....because THEIR families didn't speak up.
The police report says they lawyered up. That is their right and does not indicate a lack of full cooperation.
How obtuse can you be? Nobody, including me, has said "fuck it'. I have said that I would have had no problem if he'd gone to juvenile when it happened. He can't do jail time now for obvious reasons. Hillary is a full grown adult. Josh Duggar was a juvenile. Big difference. But on a scale of impact, clearly Hillary's judgment has far greater impact than a single individual.
His sisters haven't forgotten but they have forgiven and want to move on. That is what victims like them say and do. They are acting very normally for the situation.
Well yea.....as an adult and the POTUS, he lied to his wife, and the American public. He only admitted it when the blue dress made an appearance. Duggar never said he didn't do anything. He's never denied what he did. Major difference.
I am not giving him a pass. There is nothing that can be done to him at this point. I am defending the fact that he acted wrongly as a 14-year old, has admitted it, taken responsibility for it, is being informally punished in severe fashion, so what else is there to do to him? Ruin the rest of his life and continue to have his victims re-live this shit because the anti-Christian folks are enjoying the story? That helps nobody, including future victims who see this playing out and will be encouraged to stay quiet.
