It seems to me when your zone is getting picked apart you should just sen the house and try to create pressure. The one time we really put pressure on Murray he put the ball in Freak's breadbasket. If the DB's get burned playing press man to man what is the difference. We were getting torn up in the zoe anyway. Hit the quarterback. Hit the quarterback. Hit the quarterback. Murray was begging to choke.
Left side of the line played ok, Porter had a good game. Turner and Hawk looked to know who to block. Collins and Alexander were missing at times. I don't think the OL has played solid for one full game. After the game, the RB's did admit they missed on blocks. Blocking is one of the things that NFL scouts liked about Joe Addai, the guy could protect the QB.
I'm sorry LSUDad, while I agree in theory, it wouldn't have mattered much Saturday. Maybe earlier in some of those series when Ga. was marching, but when all Murray has to do his take three steps back and launch because the secondary has not a clue what it's suppose to do, the pass rush wasn't going to change much. All Murray needed to do was find Martin, Eugene, or Loston on the pre-snap read, hike the ball, wait two seconds, and launch it towards the end zone. Someone was gonna be wide open. A pass rush might've made him throw it faster, in which case someone was still wide open to make the catch. I think we can all live with a guy being wide open when we're blitzing 5 or 6 guys and the QB just makes a great play. But not when we're rushing 4 and our secondary is pointing at each other. They were totally confused Saturday. Murray had an easy day and a clean jersey.
Where do you get the idea we have the players to cover MTM the whole game. Haven't you seem the Jalens get torched for 5 games. White and Rashad look much better but need seasoning before they can hang like that. Also it isn't so simple as that. Straight MTM would be taken advantage of by todays offenses as you take 2 men out of the run D. I am beginning to question Corey Raymond's capabilities as a coach. DBU has trended downhil since he came on board. I understand part of that is talent but they seem clueless and getting worse not better. That is a worrisome trend.
10 things 1 learned. 1. Zach Mettenberger is the best pro prospect in this quarterback class. 2. For someone with hands the size of catchers mitts, Odell Beckham sure has issues catching. 3. All Kadron Boone does is catch touchdowns 4. Our O Line isn't as awesome as we may have thought. 5. Craig Loston could be the most overrated Tiger in LSU history. 6. DJ Welter is worse than Craig Loston. 7. Our best linebacker doesn't even start. 8. Micah Eugene is about as effective as his cousin/brother whatever (Jai Eugene). 9. Jalen Mills looked alot better because he was on a stellar defensive unit. 10. Freak Johnson isn't playing NEAR his potential.
I meant overrated by the fan base. I think most fans were already skeptical of Loston's preseason AA status well before he played a down against TCU.
