It should be a nice warm-up to the Tebow Show. I know Florida is over a month away, but it's a similar offense and a similar style QB. I'm curious to see how we do.

I am a chicken wire loving man. I have the beer and bratwurst ready and the grill will be lit. Hope my swiss neighbors do not mind a little racket in the middle of the night. Thanks again for all that you do for displaced Tigers!

According to their conference webpage, their two best players are QB Armanti Edwards and LB Pierre Banks. Offensively, they will be led by QB Armanti Edwards and RB Devon Moore. Defensively, they will be led by a strong linebacker core of D.J. Smith, Jacque Roman and Pierre Banks. http://www.soconsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=1556302&db_oem_id=4000

Here is how ASU did in the 2008 SoCon Coaches' Preseason All-Conference Team:

Offensive Player of the Year: Armanti Edwards, Jr., QB, Appalachian State

Defensive Player of the Year: Pierre Banks, Sr., LB, Appalachian State

    OFFENSE

    First Team
    QB Armanti, Edwards, Appalachian State
    RB Devon Moore, Appalachian State
    OL Brad Coley, Appalachian State
    OL Mario Acitelli, Appalachian State
    WR CoCo Hillary, Appalachian State

    Second Team
    [none]

    DEFENSE

    First Team
    DL Tony Robertson, Appalachian State
    DL Anthony Williams, Appalachian State
    LB Pierre Banks, Appalachian State
    DB Leonard Love, Appalachian State

    Second Team
    LB Jacque Roman, Appalachian State
    DB Cortez Gilbert, Appalachian State

    SPECIAL TEAMS

    First Team
Return Specialist CoCo Hillary, Appalachian State

    Second Team
    [none]

Here are some of the people I read up on:

    QB -- #14 -- junior Armani Edwards, 6-0, 184 -- star QB.

RB -- #20 -- junior Devon Moore, 5-9, 200 -- is supposed to be just as good as the RB that just graduated, who was ASU's all-time leading rusher

WR/Kick Returner -- #6 -- sophomore CoCo Hillary, 5-10, 190 -- in his first game last year as a freshman against Michigan, he caught four passes for 63 yards (including a 24-yard catch on ASU’s final offensive play to set up the game-winning 24-yard field goal). In that Michigan game, he also returned seven kicks for 151 yards (21.57 average). Last season he had 43 kick returns for 1,030 (23.95 average), shattering the ASU school record.

    Strongside LB -- #31 -- senior Pierre Banks, 6-0, 210 -- Had 108 tackles in 2007. 2007 first-team All-American, 2007 first-team all-conference, 2006 second-team all-conference, high school: first-team All-State (North Carolina), area Player of the Year, first-team all-conference.

Middle LB -- #40 -- junior Jacque Roman, 6-1, 240 -- Had 127 tackles in 2007 as a sophomore. 2007 honorable-mention All-American. High school: all-state (Georgia), leading his team to a 15-0 record and to the Georgia 5A state championship.

Weakside LB -- #9 -- sophomore D.J. Smith, 6-1, 215. Had 121 tackles in 2007 as a true freshman. 2007 honorable-mention All-American. High school: two-time all-State (North Carolina), three-time all-conference, team MVP as senior, his team went undefeated and won four-straight 4-A state championships during his prep career.

    DT -- #98 -- junior Anthony Williams, 6-1, 285 -- 2007 first-team All-American, 2007 first-team all-conference
