Will their all-world QB (Edwards, I think?) be playing? I thought I remembered reading that he was injured.

Latest is that Edwards is healthy and much "bigger" than last year. He started out at 160 wringing wet and is up to nearly 180 - still very small by BCS standards. He is amazingly fast and has a good eye.

Pierre Banks on D is awesome at bandit. He's the 16th of 17 kids, is a senior this year, completed undergrad degree in 3 years and will finish his masters this year.

I can't wait to pile in the car Friday and make the trek to LSU! See you at the game!

they are in the process of feeling things out on offense other than their stud quarterback Edwards.

He is like how Michael Vick would want to be if he had his way in the NFL

He wants to always run first and then if the play turns into a scramble and a scrum, then he might find a WR break off his route and hit him.

it looks like chaos, but this kid has mastered it. (1,600 yds rushing and 2,000 passing last year).

But they lost their RB and most of their WRs from last year's team, so they are still feeling out who will play second fiddle to Edwards on offense.

They have a fast defense, but are hugely outsized and outmuscled compared to LSU and LSU should be able to push them around easily if thye are patient enough to stick to the running game.

Look for LSU to rack up over 350 yards rushing in this game. We'll probably pass for another 150 or so.

For them, a one man wrecking crew. Stop him and it's a long long night for Appy State. A really good test for our defense, especially run defense. Lots of option plays I would suppose we will see from them.

Good point, and it will probably be beneficial in the long run. It is sort of like scheduling Princeton and LMU back in the days in college basketball.

    Appalachian State = spread
    Troy = spread
    North Texas = spread
    ____________________________

Auburn = (just switched to spread)

LSU has had trouble stopping . . . you guessed it . . .the SPREAD

those 1st three games being against who they are against are not coincidences.

Re: Official LSU vs. Appalachian St. Game Thread

Posted this on another thread weeks ago...this could help. Also to add to this,as of right now only one player is expected to miss the game and he wouldn't have been a key contributor. Look for Robert Welton to get some carries at HB as well....

    Well,heres the jist of it.
1)Secondary is all new: talented and fairly experienced, but very little starting experience
2)Linebackers are strength of the defense this year. DJ Smith is preseason defensive player of the year and Jacque Roman is also really solid. Very quick, not very big all around
3)DL is talented but fairly unproven. We had a few get the boot (see former LSUer Tim Washington). Our run defense was our achilles heel throughout last season
4)Skill positions are loaded on offense. Armanti Edwards is as good as advertised and our receivers and RBs, while lacking starting experience in some places, all have played in big games. WRs to keep an eye on would be CoCo Hillary,Josh Johnson, and Bryan Quick (6'5). Devon Moore will start at RB, but honestly whoever comes in at RB will be solid because of Armanti and because of the scheme.
5)OLine graduated 3 starters but again...there is starting experience and talent there. They are the unsung heroes of this football team. Solid at C and T, but the guards will be thrown into the fire as we lost Kerry Brown and Jon Holt, both three year starters. TE isn't a main focus of our offense, but we have a few young un's.
6)Special Teams-new kicker, punter was a bit of revolving door. Hillary is a solid return man.
For us to hang around,Armanti has to have an awesome game and we have to stop the run while putting pressure on the QB. Curious to see how we do with so much speed coming at us. Also, keep in mind that 90 degrees is the hottest day in any Boone summer, so depth will be a help for LSU.I don't think any of us has any visions of seeing Michigan happen again in our lifetime, but alot of us don't want to miss out just in case

Soaking the Chicken Wire in WD-40 as we speak. Can i get a head count of those who think they'll need it? (remeber that it's on ESPN2 and the chicken wire is supposed to be for those who can't get access, like our overseas tigers)
