You got it. i been a huge dolphins fan since i started watching football in the 3rd grade. I idolized Marino and when he left it just hasn't been the same.
I feel pretty safe in saying your Fish probably aren't going to have another QB like Marino for a very long time. He was a favorite of mine too. One of the quickest releases ever.
how much have we seen teams try and replace legends. Denver - they finally got their replacement for Elway and pissed him away to Chicago. Miami - i cant even go into all the qb's that have been there since Marino. Hopefully Chad Henne will be the next great Michigan sleeper. Do not count out Bill Parcells, if anyone knows talent, its that guy. SF - Montana and Young, still haven't found a true quarterback, to replace those 2. Dallas - the fans and media would crucify anyone who said Tony was the next Troy Aikman. NY Jets - Finally, Mark Sanchez, someone who is hollywood enough, good looking enough, and actually good enough to be mentioned in the same sentence as Broadway Joe. who did i leave out?
Colts -- Unitas...Manning -- Unitas was great in the 50's and 60's Steelers -- Bradshaw...Rothleshamburger. Bradshaw was great in the in the 70's. It took a long time for some teams to replace legends...and how many teams are still waiting to do so? And how many teams have never had a legendary QB in the first place? As for Parcells, the QB's he has selected in the draft were Jeff Hostetler (2nd QB taken in the Draft), Drew Bledsoe (1st overall pick), Chad Pennington (1st Round), Chad Henne (2nd Round) and Pat White (2nd Round). As for Henne... Michigan has had seven QBs taken in the NFL Draft over the last 16 years. Only two of those were taken in the 2nd Round or higher... Henne and Todd Collins (both 2nd Round).
I'm bored, so I'll bite. Bengals Ken Anderson/Boomer Esiason (QBs) - Carson Palmer and his injuries have killed him. Bears Walter Payton - Curtis Enis, Rashan Salaam and Anthony Thomas have all bombed out. Maybe Forte is the guy? 49ers Jerry Rice - If TO wasn't so me-oriented, he would be the second greatest 49er WR ever had he stayed. Lions Barry Sanders - no one yet. What happened to that Kevin Jones guy? Oakland Tim Brown - absolutely nothing since he left. Bills Jim Kelly and Thurman Thomas - obvious. Chiefs Tony Gonzales Seahawks Shaun Alexander Colts Edgerrin James Meh... that's enough.
