The Colonial up here in Fort Worth is really struggling. They had 1 top 10 guy last year. Its a great event and even better for me as I can walk to it from home. I would not be surprised to see this tourney go under in the next 5 years. Everyone plays the Byron Nelson and then leaves town. In days past they would stay and play the Colonial too. Last year the PGA put a week in between the tourneys. Genius idea. Tiger has never played Colonial, its a short course that punishes long players. That's why the Kenny Perry's of the world win here. From a fans perspective it is a great event
Tiger played the Colonial in '97 his first full year on tour. Finished T4th and has never been back. Just looked at this years schedule. 4 weeks between the Nelson & Colonial. Interesting.
that's right, thanks. Supposedly a lot of the big names used to come here in reverence to Ben Hogan (its his home club and he was the honorary host). Every year that passes, that tradition fades.
I worked the Colonial for CBS for a few years in the '90s so I'm quite familiar with the course. Now with Byron's passing, I doubt that you will see Tiger play the event in Dallas.
Toms backed out because he claims to be nursing a back injury. Also, today Chef Paul Purdhomme was shot after a cooking demo at the Zurich TPC. http://www.wdsu.com/news/15706004/detail.html
