Who was the last proven head coach to go to Ole Miss?

They'll get what they always got ... an assistant coach trying to make a name for himself!

You are mistaken about Illinois. At Illinois Zook has three rich recruiting grounds that are not owned by by anybody. Chicago, St. Louis and downstate Illinois. Chicago produces a lot of talent and no one owns it. Northwestern and Notre Dame don't due to their academic restrictions and the fact that almost all big ten schools recruit that area. St. Louis is open. Even though Mizzou may hold a slight edge, their program's lack of success doesn't make it easy. Downstate Illinois produces a decent amount of talent in Suburban St. Louis, Peoria, Carbondale, Bloomington-Normal, and so on.

"We don't expect a coach to be perfect..." Khayat said.

Oh really? Well, Cutcliffe was as close to 'perfect' as Ole Miss has had in a long time.

I think that is his way of saying "oh ****, our 1st three choices turned us down. Let's back off of this 'excellence' thing and just find somebody....anybody!"

What a loser, Boone and Khayat should both be fired for stupidity! :dis:

Wonder who gets a coach first, Notre Dame or Ole Miss? Paul Johnson said he wasn't interested, even though he supposedly wasn't a candidate. Looks like it is going to be Orgeron. Neuheisel is still being thrown around, so is Georgia defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder and Cowboys QB coach David Lee. They better suck it up and hire Orgeron if he wants the job and quit being so picky, at this point it's about the best they can do and the quality of the wish list is headed downhill fast.
