I agree with you, I think Ole Miss could improve with Zook as HC. He would recruit better than Cutcliff, and that could effect our recruiting. I feel he would get enough time (around 5 to 6 years), without the constant Florida like pressure hanging over his head.

I'm not saying Ole Miss would become an SEC power under Zook, but I do think they would be better than under Cutcliff. Ole Miss is not a bad job, you are right between two excellent HS football states and if you can make it work you are doing it in the SEC, the most powerful conference in the NCAA.

I don't think Petrino will take the Ole Miss job, he has a good situation at Louisville (moving to the Big East). If they were not moving, then I could see him taking the job.

I know Ole Miss is in a BCS conference, but I really believe there's no way in hell Petrino to leave Louisville for Ole Miss. IMO, it's a step down. Unless the Big Least has their BCS conference status revoked next year, Louisville will prolly be the odds on favorite to win it on a yearly basis.

The way I see it in this circumstance is....

Cutcliffe made less talented players into over-achievers at Ole Miss. He made victories and winning seasons the norm in a place where it is difficult to do so.

Zook coached very talented players at Florida and they under achieved. His teams at Florida had a very average win/loss record while he was there.

This I feel Cutcliffe was a great coach and Zook was mediocre.

i think Zook would do pretty well at Penn st. but he would be taking over for another legend, but Zook would have greating recruiting there and i'm sure PSU fans would be wishing for 7-4, 8-3 records or even a winning season

C'mon! You could do a lot worse. From the get-go, Zook wasn't a good fit for Florida. You put a defensive-minded coach at a school that is accustomed to putting up 40-60 points a game and before you know it, they're warming up the BBQ pits.

Zook is a sound defensive coach. He'll win games ugly 20-13 and be happy.

With Robert Lane as your QB and his abilities to scramble, Ole Miss should go to more of a running game, chew up some clock, and play better defense to win games.

No offense, but Florida demands 8-9 wins a season EVERY season. Ole Miss would be happy for consistancy and more 6-7 win seasons with bowl games.
